It had been a week since Maizie had gone to live with her new family and Sarah and Lily were enjoying just being a couple. Lily had spent every night but one at Sarah's house. They thought they should spend a night apart as Lily was working early the next morning and Sarah wasn't working until the afternoon. Also Lily's flat was closer to the set than Sarah's, so it made sense. Neither of them had slept well that night. They had become so used to having each other there, it felt wrong to sleep without them.

It was Wednesday now and they both had the next two days off and had decided to go for a picnic in the park and just spent some time quality time together. They had both been really busy at work and hadn't really spent much time together. They had had there first date though, they went to a local Italian restaurant.

Lily was snuggled up to Sarah's side. She felt Sarah's arms securely rapped around her. She loved the feeling of waking up in her arms. She wished she could every morning. Lily knew they had only been together as a couple for just over a week, but she also knew Sarah was the one. Maybe she should bring up the topic of living together. She already had a draw in Sarah's chest of draws and slept at her house nearly every night. They were both loving every minute of it.

Lily thoughts were broken by the buzzing of Sarah's phone. For once Lily was awake before her and felt bad waking her just to answer her phone. Lily leaned across her, careful not to wake her and grabbed her phone. She slid out of bed and went to the landing, closing the bedroom door behind her.

"Hello?" she said, not checking the caller ID before answering.

"Ms Paulson? It's Bill, Maizie's social worker. Is now a good time?"

"Oh, hi Bill, it's Lily, Sarah's girlfriend. She's actually still asleep, do you want me to wake her?"

"Yes please, it's quite important" he said a sense of urgency in his voice. Lily went to wake Sarah up, she knew Sarah would never forgive her if she didn't. She shook Sarah gently, waking her up.

"Its Bill on the phone for you"

"Oh, is Maizie ok?" she asked slightly panicked. Lily shrugged as she handed Sarah the phone. "Morning Bill, is Maizie ok?" Sarah asked as she sat up in bed.

" That's actually what I wanted to talk to you about. The thing is Maizie's new family have horses, if you remember me saying" Sarah nodded yes, even if Bill couldn't see her "well it turns out Maizie is allergic to houses and they're causing her to have some breathing problems"

"Oh my god! Is she ok though? What's going to happen?"

"Well the family said there is no way they can get rid of the horses as that is there business, they need it as there income. Maizie is even allergic to the hair on there clothes if they've been around the horses. So they said there is no way they can keep her"

"We'll take her back if you want" Sarah said before she could even think. She looked at Lily nervously, hoping she would be ok with all this. Lily stood there smiling and nodding, even though she couldn't hear what Bill was saying she got the idea from what Sarah was saying. They were going to be a proper family, hopefully.

"Well that's what I wanted to ask you. Since she knows you and is still asking for you, could she come and stay while I find another adoptive family for her?"

"Yes, yes she can stay. When will you be here?"

"Half an hour ok?" Bill said re leaved Maizie had somewhere to go for the time being.

"Sounds great, see you then. I would also like to talk to you about adoptive families when your here"

"Ok, thanks, bye" Bill said hanging up the phone.

Sarah pounced on Lily, who was now sitting on the bed in front of Sarah. "She's coming back, we get a second chance Lily" Sarah said full of excitement, kissing Lily.

"You said to Bill you wanted to speak to him about adoptive families? Well I know we're new and everything but I saw the way you looked at her, how you were when she left. Why don't we......." Lily trailed off to scared to say the word in case it freaked Sarah out.

"You want us to adopt her?"

"Well........ Yeah" Lily said nervously.

"Yes, lets do it. When she was here it felt so right. She fitted in perfectly and now we're being given a second chance. I can't lose her again Lily, she's too important. But are you ready? Before we got together you weren't even thinking about having children."

"I know but having Maizie here showed me how amazing it is to have children and I fell in love with her. I'm ready" Lily said a smile spreading across her face. She leaned in and kissed Sarah deeply. "I love you, Mummy Sarah" Sarah smiled,

"It happening, but don't call me that until the adoption papers are signed, it would make it even worse if we didn't get her" Lily understood what Sarah was saying but she was too exited right now. She and Sarah were going to have daughter, together.

Lily and Sarah got dressed and ready for Maizie arriving. They were both dancing around in excitement. The door bell rang and Sarah ran downstairs to get it. Lily not for behind her, Sarah slipped her hand into Lily's and gave it a squeeze. "What if she doesn't remember us? Or wants to go back to the family she has spent the last week with?" Sarah said worriedly, looking deep into Lily's eyes fir support.

"She will remember us, Bill said she had been asking for you. And with that family, it didn't sound like she was happy there. As long as we show her how much we love her she'll be ok, just wait and see" Lily said kissing Sarah on the forehead.

Sarah was so glad she had Lily by her side this time, she knew it wasn't going to be easy but at least they had each other. Sarah opened the door, there was Maizie and Bill standing next to each other. Maizie let go of Bill's hand and ran towards Sarah, arms reaching up for her. "Sarah!" she shouted in excitement. Sarah picked her up and hugging her close to her chest. Maizie breathed in Sarah's smell that reminded her so much of her Mum's perfume. She felt safe again.

"Hi Bill, come in" said Lily, leading them all through to the living room "You can leave her case in the hall if you want" she said seeing Bill holding it. It was then Maizie noticed Lily, she reached out for her

"Lily! Hug please" Lily took Maizie from Sarah's arms and hugged her close. She had missed this little girl so much, her weight in her arms and the way she wrapped her little arms around her neck.

"I thought you had forgotten about me" Lily said jokingly, kissing her on the forhead.

"No, I just didn't see you" Maizie said smiling, leaning her head on Lily's shoulder looking at Sarah.

"I think I'll leave you three to become reacquainted. I know you wanted to speak to me about her future but I think I know where you're going with that so I'll speak to my boss and your lawyer and call you tomorrow. Enjoy, you all look very happy together" he said smiling at them. He went back to his car, shutting the front door behind him. He didn't think he would need to bother looking for a new adoptive family for Maizie, she had already found them and fallen in love.

"What do you want to do now Maizie?" Lily said looking down at her.

"Read Winnie the Pooh outside like last time" she said smiling. Maizie wriggled down out of Lily's arms and ran across to the book case, grabbing the book she wanted, looking back at Sarah and Lily. All they could do was agree, they had there little girl back.
