Fulfilling A Dream

Chapter 13

Sarah began to wake, she had the feeling of something heavy laying on top of her. In here sleep haised mind she couldn't imagine what is was. As she began to wake more she realised it was Maizie, at some point during the night she must have climbed on top of her to sleep. Sarah looked down to see a messy mop of dark brown hair laying on her chest, sticking out from under the covers. She instinctively wrapped her arms around Maizie, inhaling her smell. She was still fast asleep, breathing rhythmically. Sarah felt relaxed and special at how Maizie already trusted her enough to fall asleep on her. She thought back to the middle of the night when Maizie had woken up crying, she had reached up for Sarah, and her and Lily had calmed her, settling her back down to sleep. Maizie hadn't asked for her Mummy this time she had just accepted their love and comfort. The thought saddened her, as it made her realise that Maizie was beginning to understand that her Mummy and Daddy weren't coming back, but it also made her heart swell at the thought that Maizie saw her and a Lily as a suitable substitute to protect and love her.

Lily rolled over and snuggled into her side, pulling Sarah from her thoughts. Sarah turned her head slightly to kiss Lily's forehead. "Morning sweetie" she whispered to Lily, so as to not wake Maizie. "We've got our baby back" not being able to keep in her excitement, and saying it made it feel more real.
"I know, it still feels to good to be true" Lily said slipping her left arm round over Maizie and snuggling in further to Sarah, just enjoying the moment. The warmth of the bed, the peace of the morning and the sight of her girlfriend and there daughter snuggled in bed together with her relaxed Lily. Seeing Maizie curled up on Sarah's tummy and chest made her look tiny and so much younger. She imagined what it would have been like to have her from a baby, what she was like and what Sarah would have been like with a baby. Maybe they would have more children one day, a little brother or sister for Maizie. The thought coursed a smile to grace her lips.
"What are you thinking about, you look happy?" Sarah voice breaking her thoughts, causing Lily to blush.
"Just our future with Maizie" she said not wanting to lie, but also not wanting to cause Sarah to run for the hills.
"You're cute" Sarah said going in to kiss her on the lips, sliding her hand out from around Maizie to stroke Lily's pink cheek. "You don't have to be embarrassed about it, I was just thinking about it too, how lucky we are to have her. It makes us a real little family. I wish we could lie here all day, safely cocooned in our own little world with her but we need to talk to Bill today and sort her room out" Sarah said as she stared into Lily's eyes. "You're beautiful you know, I love you so much". Lily blushed again.
"I love you too" she smiled. "Shall we leave her here and go and get showered whilst she's still asleep, we won't get to shower together very often anymore, now we have a toddler, so we better make the most of it"

Sarah sat up very slowly in bed, whilst holding Maizie to her chest, she twisted round and lay her down in the middle of the bed. Maizie snuggled into Lily's pillow, and stayed asleep. It amazed Sarah that she could stay asleep whilst being moved like that, she always woke at the slightest thing. Maybe it meant she felt safe, Sarah thought.

They got up and went and showered. Sarah got out of the shower first and grabbed a towel, wrapping it around her to keep her warm. Wiping the water droplets from her face she turned to Lily who was just rinsing the soap out of her hair. Sarah couldn't believe how lucky she was to have such a beautiful girlfriend and the even more amazing thing about Lily was how modest and unassuming about it she was. It was one of the many things Sarah loved about her. Breaking herself from her love induced day dream " Do you want me to grab your clothes and bring them in here for you to change into in case Maizie wakes up whilst we're changing? I don't want to mentally scar too early on in our relationship with her" Sarah said to Lily.
Laughing Lily replied "Yes, might be best, thank you love"

Whilst Sarah went to get there clothes from the bedroom, Lily got out and wrapped a towel round her hair and then another round her body. She loved how soft and fluffy Sarah's towels were, they were like the ones you got in hotels or spa's. Just then Sarah walked in with their clothes "I wasn't sure what you wanted to wear, but it looks sunny outside so I just guessed from there"
"I'm sure it will look great, I trust your fashion sense" Lily said laughing going over to Sarah to kiss her thank you. Sarah deepened the kiss, running her free hand along Lily's back.
"As much as I love making out with you whilst your only wearing a towel, it looked like Maizie was beginning to wake up, so we better get a move on" Sarah said giving Lily one last kiss, before handing her her clothes and started getting dressing herself.

"Sarah!? Lily!?" A little, slightly panicked voice came from the bed.
"We're here baby" Sarah called to Maizie from the bathroom. "Just coming" she said as she walked over to the bed fastening her belt. Maizie sat up one her knees, putting her arms up to Sarah to pick her up. "You ready to go out and find some furniture and toys for you new bedroom" Sarah said picking Maizie up and snuggling her close. Maizie nodded into her neck, smiling. Today was going to be great fun, Sarah thought to herself.
