They had spent the evening chatting, drinking wine and enjoying there barbecue but it was beginning to get dark outside now and although it wasn't particularly cold, the wind was beginning to pick up.

"Why do you have to live next door to a wood Sarah, it's scary at night, especially when the wind gets going and starts howling through the branches" Lily said snuggling into Sarah's side. They were still sitting outside in the swing-bench just enjoying the night sky and each others company. It had been a while since they had just had alone time together and they had both missed it. They had seen each other with other friends but there was something relaxing and more enjoyable just being the two of them.

"You get used to it after a couple of days, I don't even really notice the wind in the trees now. Although I think it is quite a relaxing sound. But don't worry I'll protect you from the big bad scary woods" Sarah laughed as she tucked her arm round Lily to make her feel better.

"Can't we just go inside and curl up with a movie?" As much as Lily wanted to stay tucked safely under Sarah's arm forever more, the wood was just too creepy for her liking. She was hoping with a movie they could snuggle up again and she could resume her position under Sarah's arm in the comforts of her living room, where it was not so windy and there were blankets and no scary woods.

"Come on then scardy cat, which movie do you want to watch? I was thinking Woman in Black" Sarah joked, pulling Lily up by her hand as she glared at her.

Once they were inside Lily noticed the time, it was 11pm already and she had had a couple of glasses of wine, so she wouldn't be safe to drive she thought. "Do you mind if I stay the night, its getting late and I've had too much to wine to drive?"

"Yeah, sure!" Sarah said, trying not to sound too happy. She loved it when Lily stayed over as she was so cute when she slept and always snuggled into Sarah during the night. Sarah felt a sense of privilege that Lily felt comfortable enough around her to fall asleep on her. Lily was quite a shy person and always kept her barriers up slightly around people she wasn't completely comfortable with, she was glad she wasn't one of those people and got to see Lily for who she really was, vulnerability and all. "Since you're staying the night do you want to get into pajamas now and watch the movie in bed?"

"Sounds good to me" said Lily.

They went upstairs to get changed. Lily borrowed a pair of Sarah's pyjamas, although at this point they were basically Lily's since she wore them more than Sarah did. Sarah was ready first and hoped into bed, grabbing the TV remote on her way past. They had decided on watching Chicago as they both loved that movie and just wanted something fun to watch.

"Come snuggle Pillypie, the movie is all ready" Sarah said lifting her left arm up for Lily to tuck in under. Neither of them thought twice about how touchy they were with each other it just came very naturally to them both and they liked it.

As the movie drew to a close Sarah looked down at Lily who was breathing rhythmically, mouth slightly open, leaning against Sarah's chest. She looked so cute like that, so innocent and carefree. Sarah sat there for awhile just watching her sleep, enjoying the moment. She really did love this woman. Maybe more than a friend. Was it possible that there friendship had become more over the past couple of years? Sarah thought to herself. She had been in relationships with women before so that wasn't the problem. She just worried what would happen if they did go out and she ended up ruining it and hurting Lily. She couldn't imagine her life without her. She wished she could just tell Lily all of this, Lily was her go to person for problems like this but in this case she was the one person she couldn't tell.

Sarah had to stop thinking about this for tonight, it was late and she needed to go to sleep. She turned off the TV and wriggled down the bed into a position she could actually sleep in, careful not to wake Lily. Lily wriggled slightly and made a wimpery noise but just snuggled back into Sarah's side again with a sigh.

Lily had woken early the next morning having had the best sleep she had had in ages. Since Sarah was still fast asleep she decided to make pancakes as a surprise for her. She slipped out of Sarah's arms regretfully, missing the warmth almost immediately, put on one of Sarah's hoodies and headed downstairs to the kitchen to start work on breakfast.

Sarah woke to an empty bed and the smell of pancakes, a smile gently spreading across her face. She loved having Lily here, it made her house feel like a home, somewhere to raise a child. One who would be so loved by her and there Auntie Lily.

She headed to the kitchen, following the amazing smell radiating from it.
"Morning, they smell great, almost good enough to eat" Sarah jocked as she went and kissed Lily good morning one the lips. As their lips made contact she realised her horrible mistake, it had just come so naturally, she hadn't even thought. She just froze for a second then quickly drew back.

"Sorry Lily, I don't know what happened, I was going to kiss you on the cheek and then.... I just kissed you on the lips" Sarah said awkwardly, rubbing the back of her neck with her hand, not sure whether to laugh, cry or run.

Slightly stunned still, Lily just smiled.

"It's fine honestly. What can I expect when I look this amazing, with my unbrushed hair and the remainders of yesterdays makeup on, I mean who can resist that" Lily joked, lightning the mood and putting Sarah at ease.

Smiling gratefully Sarah said "So when will those pancakes be ready? All this kissing has made me hungry"

Sarah could deal with her feelings later, right now she was happy she hadn't just screwed up her friendship for life. Lily began to wonder maybe, just maybe Sarah felt the same way about her as she did Sarah.
