It's the middle of the week and still no Intel on Kaiwa.
I'm worried, and I can make a bet that Shameik and I are the only people that care and noticed, that she's gone except for the teachers. The teachers don't care but they did notice, because they're not complaining about the same person every time.
The only teacher who actually showed some form of care was Ms. Hays. She's the English teacher and she's an adorable lady. She's pretty old, possibly in her mid-sixties. She had one daughter but she died while giving birth to her grand daughter. The baby lived so Ms. Hays took custody of the baby. This was 12 years ago. That's what she's told us.
I think Ms, Hays genuinely cares that Kaiwa's not been in class, because she believes that kids our age should not be going through the shit we go through and, possibly because she knows that Kaiwa does have a habit of getting into trouble.
-----
It's lunch time and I should be making up some class work to pick up my grades but I walk down to the cafeteria instead.
Shameik is sitting in the table with all the Lacrosse players listening to them talk about their games, even though he's more of a football and basketball kind of guy.
We made eye contact and I signaled him for us to leave by tilting my head towards the doors, starred at it then starred back at him. He nodded and we started walking.
He was about 10 feet ahead of me so the lunch officials won't question us. Considering that we look really suspicious. It's not our faults that we look bad ass (I'm totally bragging).
We made it out to the football field. It was just this big empty lifeless field.
It was lifeless to me at least, but to Shameik. He saw himself in a field like this one, playing professionally, in front of so many people. However, those were dreams he had that were shut down by his father, telling him that dreams such as those are too big. He was told to dream smaller. To dream of a good paying job, getting married and having at least 3 kids. So basically, he was told to dream average.
I had some weed and a cigarette.
He had some rolling paper and a lighter.
We combined our forces and made a "clunt."
CLUNT: A combination of the words "cigarette" and "blunt."
A blunt that has both weed and cigarette contents.
Pronounced as "slunt"
A creation of Shamiek and I (At least to our knowledge).
I should probably say that this was the first time that we ever tried this.
We were worrying too much about life. We thought we needed to feel free for a little while.
To my surprise, it was disgusting, it had a horrible taste, it was a horrible idea. I did not react well to it. It made me feel really dizzy and nauseous.
Note to self: Never try a clunt again.
Shameik on the other hand, was loving it. He was all giggly and he was saying the dumbest things. He was off the shits.
He was on a whole new level of high, because normal blunts don't get you off the shits. He was reacting completely different and it was unexpected.
He got up and started running around the field. He was laughing so much, it was kind of scary. I've seen him like this before but that was when he took Xanax pills. Maybe he took some earlier, and the clunt kicked it off.
I was starting to think he did take some pills because this was unusual. So I got up, and started running towards him trying to catch him but, he got way more excited and started running faster. He was laughing so much and so hard. He was pumping his fists into the air as he ran. I couldn't catch up. I needed to stop him. He was beginning to scare me. How many pills did he take?
I stopped running to catch my breath.
Fun Fact: I'm asthmatic but it's not that bad. On a scale of one to ten, it's a three. However, right now it feels like a five.
He started slowing down, then he fell to the floor. It looked like he collapsed.
I panicked and ran to him in full speed, only to find him laying there, on his back staring out into the clouds. He was lightly giggling too.
"Dude, how many pills did you take?"
"Four" He said, faintly but smiling foolishly.
"What the fuck? Why? What's going on with you?"
He didn't answer me, he just turned to his side, facing me and a tear rolled down his eyes.
All right this shit needs to stop, so I slapped him on his cheek. Quite hard, twice.
He didn't say anything. He just starred at me.
"What the fuck" I said with a sigh.
Kody can't see him like this.
So I decided to wait him out.
We just stayed there, silently in the middle of the empty lifeless field.
