Elodie
As I walked away from rehearsal, I was relieved that nobody had noticed that I wasn't there for most of it. That was, everybody except a certain masked creep. Just as I turned the corner, I felt a hand on my shoulder. I shrieked, and pulled out my gun."Really, again?"
"What did you except, a hug?"
He looked down, rather sadly."I could never expect that out of anybody."
"Boy, stop being so melodramatic! I'll give you a hug if you want one, but I haven't taken a bath in three weeks!"
He recoiled slightly at my comment. "Why weren't you at rehearsal today?"
Shit.
"I just slept in, and sometimes taking a break is healthy."
He looked at me, obviously seeing through my lies. He sighed before speaking.
" I finished your favor."
"Wonderful! I'm free!"
He chuckled at my carefree attitude,
"Actually, I'm free. You still have to get Christine."
I stared at him, trying to get him to back down. This went on for about a minute before I gave up.
"Ugh, fine! But you better start kissing up to Christine, or else some other creep is going to pick her up!"
I stormed off, feeling slightly defeated. As I entered my room, I remembered Erik saying that he had gotten rid of Turpin. Papa was going to be so proud.
Erik
I thought about what Elodie said as I was working on Don Juan. Should reveal myself to Christine? But that would be madness, how could she ever love a hideous creature like myself? Maybe if I kept her here for a few days, she might fall in love with me, hopefully enough that she wouldn't care about my face. And tonight would be a perfect time as it was Christines debut, and her 'angel' would be so proud! Yes! My plan was perfect!Christine
Elodie and Meg appeared out of nowhere as I was getting ready."Salut, Christine!"
I nearly jumped a foot at the sound of Elodie's voice,
"Why must you always surprise me like that?!"
She smiled,
"It's just a part of my nature!"
I rolled my eyes at her as Meg observed my dress. "You're so lucky, Christine, that dress is beautiful!"
I looked down, it was a lovely red, and green gown with intricate beading.
"Well, while it's beautiful, it's also quite uncomfortable! You should have seen me trying to run up the stairs!"
They laughed, before leaving me alone in the Prima Donna room. It was filled with Carlottas useless little trinkets, and expensive makeup. My angels voice suddenly came calling to me,
"Mon ange, you shall do wonderfully tonight, I am certain of it!"
I smiled at his kind words, my heart filling with joy, "Angel, I will be singing only for you! And maybe as a reward, I will get to meet you?"
I prepared myself for the rejection which I had gotten each time that I asked.
"After your performance, I shall come to take you away, if you do well."
My eyes widened as I realized what he meant,
"R-Really? That's amazing,
t-thank you, my angel, thank you!"I felt his presence disappear, and I proceeded to squeal like a little girl. Then, reality struck. I was going to have to be perfect.
"Miss Daae, it's time."
I walked onto the stage, and the curtains rose. It was a full house. But the I remembered my angels words, and I relaxed.
Think of me, think of me fondly,
When we've said 'goodbye'
Remember me,
Every so often,
Promise me you'll try
On that day,
that not so distant day,
When you are far away and free,
If you ever find a moment,
Spare a thought for me!I danced with my scarf as the orchestra came in.
And though it's clear,
Though it was always clear,
That this was never meant to be,
If you happen to remember,
Stop, and think of me!
Think of August, when the world was green,
Don't think about the way things might have been.
Think of me, think of me waking,
Silent and resigned
Imagine me, trying too hard
To put you from my mind!
Think of me,
Please say you'll think of me,
Whatever is you choose to do,
There will never be a day when,
I won't think of you!I danced around the stage, playing with the scarf. I looked up at box five, and saw the patron saying something. I ignored it, and continued to sing,
Flowers fade,
The fruits of summer fade,
They have their season,
So do we,
But please promise me,
That sometimes,
You will think,I paused, and began to vocalize as my angel had taught me to do,
Of me!
I throw the scarf up in front of me, and bow. The applause is thundering, and as the curtains go down, I smile as I think of my angel coming to take me away.
