My Sister Saved My Life (Demi Lovato Fanfic)

Safe and Sound -4-

I just kept driving and driving, not caring where I was going. After I cleared my head, I realized I totally overreacted to what Demi said. She's my sister, that's fucking awesome.

I got home, walked in the house and found a pissed off Demi standing in the kitchen.

"Give me the keys to that damn four wheeler McKenzie" She said. 'Oh shit. I'm in trouble' I thought to myself. I hand over the keys and sat on the counter top.

"I'm so sorry Demi. I didn't mean to elbow you, I don't know why I did it. I just freaked out. It's awesome you're my sister. I love you Dem. I'm sorry." I say, looking down at my feet. She lifts my chin so I'm looking straight at her.

"It's okay baby girl. I understand. I would've done the same thing. Well maybe not the elbowing part. Damn, did you weight lift or something? I think you broke my rib." She laughs. "But babe, never do that again. I don't want this to be a violent home. I will never hurt you. I promise a baby girl. Can we talk now? I want to tell you a few things, then you can go to bed, okay?" She says, while standing up.

"Alright. But if I run, you gotta let me go. There's a key for the bathroom in my room in my jewelry box, just in case. I'm sorry about earlier Demi. I can't promise it won't happen again, but I promise I'll talk to you if I get stressed or something." I say with a smile. She motions for me to jump on her back so she can give me a piggy back ride to my room, I gladly agree. 

We get up to my room, laughing because apparently Demi can't carry me upstairs so we fell like three times. She suddenly stops laughing when she sees my extra blade sitting on my dresser. I lunge for it, but she gets there first.

"Why do you still have a blade K? I thought I took your only one. Please tell me you haven't used this today." She asks, eyeing me suspiciously.

"Not within the last two hours." I say looking down, "I'm sorry Demi. It's just with everything that's happened today, I needed a release. That's my last one, I swear."

"Kenzie, come here." She says, sitting on the floor by my bed. "I understand. I really do, but next time you feel the need to cut, or even if it just crosses your mind, come talk to me. I know what you're going through. I know how hard it is to ignore the voices. Let me help you Kenz, please." She pleads with tears in her eyes, threatening to fall.

"I'm sorry Demi. I want to get better, it's just so hard. I don't even feel safe in my own body. Can I skip school tomorrow? I don't want to see anyone after today. Do you think I could be homeschooled? Maybe get a cute guy as my tutor?" I smirked at her.

"Yes you can skip, but I'll have to think about the homeschooling. We'll get through this. I promise. Now how about we go to bed. It's late." She says getting into my bed, not even bothering to change. I look at my clock and see it's after 11. Wow. Today went fast. I lay down but I know I won't be able to sleep. I look at Demi who's just smiling at me.

"What are you looking at?" I ask her.

"You're just so adorable." She says with a smile.

"Bitch please, I'm sexy." I laugh at the glare she's giving me. "Hey Dem? I have a question." I say shyly.

"What's up?" Se asks.

"Will you sing to me?" I ask.

"What song? I know a lot." She says chuckling.

"Nightingale." I simply state.

"Okay baby girl. Go to sleep." She starts singing. She stops and I'm almost asleep, but I hear her whisper,

"I love you McKenzie. Now you're safe and sound baby girl." She kissed my forehead as I drifted off. For the first time in years, I feel asleep with a smile on my face.
