Chapter 9
**Phantoms POV**
Nadir came running back into my lair from the back of the tunnels which only he and I knew of. I watched him fix his bow with a very disappointed look.
"Erik we have waited a century to be free from here. We had so many close calls and now that you realized your unfinished business we now have a chance for sure but you're gonna blow it for us. What happened to the fearsome Phantom who would stop at nothing to get what he wanted?" Nadir sounded like he was protesting to the whole world instead of me.
I snickered in response over his whole rant "You must have forgotten my little trick, my friend"
Nadir's frown curled into an evil smirk "Ah of course"
"And must I mention from that smirk of yours what ever happened to the innocent Persian who helped me escape and always forced me to know right from wrong?" I raised an eyebrow returning a smirk.
Nadir chuckled shaking his head "Seeing the things I've seen in the streets of Paris in the past century, you would understand."
I sighed leading my friend over to my organ "I have a plan and I've had one ever since the first meeting between all of us. I knew she would not give in easily" I stated
"And what is this plan of yours my friend?" Nadir smiled evilly
I handed him a stack of papers filled with my ideas on how we were to control Jaqueline, our only hope. I felt very bad about betraying her but I had no choice. I started having some strange old feelings towards her and now it was her turn to fall in love with me even if I had to force her like I did to Christine but at least this time I knew what not to do.
An evil laugh escaped the mouth of the Persian. I missed these times but I definitely missed how he argued about my ideas like he used to.
When we first came here from Persia he would always treat me like a child which was funny because he was at least 15 years younger than I. All the time he used to try to stop me from committing a simple crime by his endless boring lectures.
"You killed him?!!"
I covered my ears from his sudden shock. He should know me by now shouldn't he?
Just when I was gonna speak he ranted on "Erik, I know you're better than that. You have a really bad reputation now. Once people find out you're a man they will send you to prison for life and maybe send you to your death! You want that?!"
For godsakes couldn't this man shut up for one moment and let me do what I wanted to do?
"Then when you're caught there will be no escape like there was in Persia!! And you think Christine wants to be with an Angel of..Death?"
He forced my hands off my ears giving me a very deadly glare. "ANSWER ME!" he shouted nearly giving me a ruptured eardrum.
"NO I SCREWED UP, I'M SORRY THAT I AM SUCH AN EVIL WICKED MAN WITH A DEFORMED FACE THAT FINDS FUN IN THOSE DOINGS" I screamed back out of annoyance.
All I got was a chuckle from him in return "Oh Erik, poor Erik. I know you have a heart in there somewhere" He stood up fixing his dumb Persian hat "So use it!!" Finally he stomped out leaving me to think about what I had just done. Maybe he was right?
Those days were over, now we were wandering souls who have seen a lot in a century. Nothing seemed to matter to us anymore, no one would care. Less people were afraid of ghosts now a days so it made haunting very difficult and boring and soon we gave up on it. We were tired of just being there, we wanted to be free so then we started focusing more on our quest finding the right person to help us.
