Chapter 4

By morning I woke up remembering everything that had happened the day before. I felt really pissed and despite the whole warning the woman gave me I just wanted to end this for good. I created a plan in my head for what I could do to stop the "Phantom" or whatever he was.

I got out of bed and got dressed for the day. I wore a Stanford sweater my dad bought me along with a red tank top under and a pair of comfy black leggings. I slipped on my vans as I threw my hair into a lazy ponytail. I debated whether or not to bring my purse due to past events of the man taking my crap.

I chose to just bring my phone and that was all. I quietly exited the room then made my journey back to the opera house to discuss some business with the Mr. Voodoo guy. How did he have the ability to conquer my mind? You only see that in movies.

Bravely I walked down into the long dark muggy underground halls with my chin held high. I was not gonna let him scare me and ruin my stay in France.

"Yo Phantom!!" My voice echoed past the shadowed halls. And on cue he appeared behind me as if to make a whole dramatic entrance.

I shuffled around to face him with an unimpressed look "Well hello" The masked man bowed his head "Madam" he held out his hand to me which I swiftly took letting him lead me onto his boat. At least this time he didn't tie me up as before.

As I watched him silently row on I took the chance to speak "So, when we get to your lair I would like to confront you about something" I explained earning a slight pleased glance from him.

"Of course" he turned his head back focusing on the waters in front of us keeping the awkward silence between us. This dumb idiot, I thought he was a "ghost" like come on.

The boat docked and so the Phantom got out as he offered his hand to help me out. I gladly accepted it then hopped out awaiting his instructions.

"Come dear" he gestured me over to an old organ where he took a seat. He motioned me to sit beside him on the bench. I sat looking at him now expressing my anger "Okay I followed everything now please explain to me how the fuck you are controlling my mind and why" I rose my voice

A smile or smirk maybe both formed on the visible corner of his lip "You think I am controlling your mind?" he nearly scoffed it.

"I heard your voice in my head dumb ass, I'm not crazy. You were in my mind and you warned me not to tell my friend and-" his gloved finger rested onto my lip shutting me up.

He took his finger off breathing deeply out "My sweet Jacqueline, Christine thought the same thing. I cannot control your mind but as in the words of my first love I have a skill in putting people under a spell of some sort."

That made so much sense. Okay no this guy was a complete idiot. If he was trying to give me a hint or making up a story to confuse me more I was not taking it. Already I was talking crazy thinking this guy was taking over me. I just met him plus he saved me from falling......and not to mention he basically harassed me by nearly kidnapping me the day before. So much can happen in a day, am I right?

"Right, you honestly make no sense" I shook my head looking away from him. A hand grasped my chin softly turning it back to him. "You want to know why I have chosen you?" My eyes widened "I have chosen you"

I nodded slowly. He brought his hand and his other hand to his greased hair smoothing it down. "Funny as it sounds me being a ghost. I feel like there is just something about you. Once you stepped into the opera house I felt a liberating feeling like you can help set me free" now he was getting serious which low-key freaking me out.
