Disclaimer: I am going to portray the boys trip to Africa in a way that may make it seem as though I do not recognize how important, influential and serious it is. I know that what the boys did for red nose day was really great and it helped alot of people. The way I portray it in this story is for purely fictional purposes and is not meant to offend anyone.
Also Harry's words in some parts are really really harsh. I'm sorry if it's offensive. It's all for fictional purposes and none of it reflects my own opinions. Thanks for reading.
Song for this chapter is A-team by Ed Sheeran.
Harry's POV~
The first thing I noticed about Africa was how incredibly hot it was. I felt the sun hit my skin in painful rays the second I passed through the double doors of the airport. It wasn't like any other airport I'd ever been in. It was tiny and empty. There wasn't any shiny new escalators, baggage claims, or security stops. It was all one floor and everything looked to be about thirty years old. There was no array of shops, just an empty hallway to the front desk and the door. There was clearly armed security guards at the entrance.
"We're not in Kansas anymore," I muttered sarcastically as made our way into the SUVs in front of the doors. Louis elbowed me sharply in the ribs.
Almost a month and a half had passed since I'd sent the video out. They had all been cold towards me since then. At first, that had really upset me. I couldn't even remember doing it. it wasn't fair for them to punish me for something I couldn't even remember doing. Despite how much there intolerance of me upset me, as time passed, I realized two could play at that game. I just started being a dick back to them. It didn't really help me feel better. If anything, it just made me lonelier. I upped my drug use slightly to help with the loneliness. That pushed everyone further away. I lived in a vicious cycle.
Once safely in the SUV away from the armed guards, I felt comfortable enough speaking without fear of getting hit again. "We're really doing this then?"
"Obviously Harry," Zayn scowled. "We're in Ghana aren't we?"
I laughed. "No I mean are they actually going to parade us around and make us exploit a bunch of poor kids for money?"
"Jesus Harry, no! We're helping people!" Niall snapped.
"The directions were literally cry alot and find the saddest looking people to talk to," I said smirking. "This is literally a set up for some poor Africans to look bad."
"But it's for a good cause," Louis sighed. "And you didn't have to agree to it."
"Yeah you could have stayed home and shot heroin with your baby mama." Zayn laughed at me as I cringed at his words. They upset me for two reasons. The first was that he'd accused me of doing heroin, which was something I'd never done. I didn't care if he mentioned my drug use, but he had to at least have his facts right. His comment also hurt me because he'd brought up Emma. I didn't like mentions of Cory I'm general, but mentions of Emma threw me over the edge.
"Suck a dick Bin Laden!" I snapped. I went to hit him, then thought better of it and sat back down.
All of the boys looked at me in awe. To be fair, I had called Zayn a terrorist solely because he was Muslim and looked slightly Arabic. I guess we could ad discrimination to the long list of my flaws. I think that event right there really set the tone for our trip to Africa.
Louis POV~
The main goal of our trip to Africa was to create some positive press that would help people forget about the fact that the video had been leaked. Of course, it was also for a great cause, but that's not why management had it arranged. All they cared about was making sure we still made money. They didn't care if it was as a result of us helping Africans or us robbing a bank. As long as money came in at the end of the day they were happy.
