Chapter 25

We were soaking wet when Felicity opened her door at 6:00 a.m. She was in her pink pajamas with a white sweater on. That reminded me how cold it was outside. I had forgotten it, in my happiness to see her after so many days. Or was it so many days? I don't think it was more than two days.... boy it felt like I was here after a long time.

"Lacie!'' Felicity said in excitement, she took my hand and pulled me inside with her. "You said you'd come back the next day but you didn't. I was so worried!'' She said.

Jack and Raum followed us inside. Glen was in his normal track pants and a gray sweater. I smiled at him. He smiled back and said, ''I'm glad you're here, we heard about what happened from Jack.''

Before I could say anything Fel hugged me from my side and patted my head, ''I know, it's awful right? You poor child, the things you had to go through with your family. I can't even imagine how heart broken you must be!'' She exclaimed.

"No... um... I'm fine.'' I said, my voice a little low.

"But don't worry..'' she continued, ''you have your friends who love and support you and I'm here too. To tell you a secret, among everyone I like you the most Lacie... even though you're a two timer.''

"What... how did you? I'm not!!" I said embarrassed.

I could here Jack and Raum stiffening a laugh behind me.

"Shut up.'' I said, how did Fel know about the conversation on the boat.

"Oh! Look the trash brought garbage along with her.'' A familiar voice said, whom I knew all too well. I turned to look at Zero who was leaning against the living room door.

"Oh I'm sorry did I disturb your beauty nap but see, I didn't know douche bags slept at night.'' I said with a lazy smile.

I bet Jack and Raum were looking at me with their eyes out of their sockets, they've never seen me talk this rudely with anyone before. But I wasn't going to play nice with a person who tried to kill me, probably wants to kill me even now.

I could see that Zero was angry and about to make a come back but Felicity jumped in taking control of the situation before we got in an argument.

"Lacie, why don't you come with me? You must be tired, take a hot water bath and we'll have breakfast later.'' She said, taking me upstairs, while she was pushing me forward awkwardly she gave Glen a look which I think ment 'Take care of the situation with those guys.'

She took me to an upstairs bathroom and told me to take my time. When she went to get me some clothes, I locked the bathroom door and undressed myself. My wet jeans were the hardest to remove.

I got in the bath tub and felt completely relaxed. It's been a while since I've enjoyed a bubble bath. I heard some bickering downstairs, I figured it was just Raum and Jack fighting about who will use the bathroom downstairs first.

I relaxed some more and closed my eyes. I was revisiting the events of every thing that happened in my house. Bert was dead. He wasn't here anymore. I didn't need to care about going back home on time, I could make friends with who ever I wanted. I didn't need to be afraid of him anymore. I won't ever see him again. I didn't know how to feel about all this and so I didn't dwell on it that much.

My mind slowly drifted to this morning, I'd noticed that Jack wasn't looking at his brother, even when Zero was standing and talking to me, his gaze was turned away from Zero.

It was the same for Zero. He didn't even pay attention to his brother. Why was Zero staying here in the first place? He was in his night clothes when I saw him this morning.
