Angel Knight (On Hold)

Chapter 2

          "Oh!!! Me and my big mouth" Why why why did I do this. Why on earth was the need to prove myself to that jerk. "Ahem!" the voice in my head cleared her throat, "I see you've got some issues there young lady", she said lowering her half moon specs. "Yeah Eric is a good friend I just don't like the way he behaves sometimes. Besides I can't get too close to people, you know what I mean right." I answer her.

"Oh! yes your daddy issues" She says smirking at me.

"Correction step-daddy issues" I say disgusted by the thought of him. "Besides we are not talking about him right now we're talking about Eric".

"Yeah about him you should have known better, but no you just jumped right in his trap", she said sarcastically.

"I should have, what do you mean by that he provoked me!!!!"

"Keep telling yourself that, dear but they are just silly excuses", she said waving her hand in the air.

"Watch your your tone lady!" I spat back, right in her face. "You don't know a thing."

"You do know you're talking to yourself right". Laughing loudly she disappeared.

I muttered a whatever and kept walking according to the directions given in the map. Not even two mins have passed and I'm going crazy talking to myself. I have to get back before 12, if the teach finds out about this I'm screwed. The wind distracts me from my thoughts, even though I'm wearing my coat I still am shivering the gloves and the scarf don't help me either.

Damn it's cold out here. The snow is causing my boots to sink in deeper. Where is that temple? Is there even one or did he just send me out here to make a fool out of me, but if he did something like that to me then he knows it too, that his body will never be found after I kill him.

But I'm sure even Eric knows better than to use someone's fears against them just to make a fool out of them. Anyway I have to keep looking, there is no way that I am going back on my word not my style.

Then I see a faint light glowing from behind the trees, at a distance. I almost run and make my way towards it. Thank God! I found the temple it is at the foot of Mount Kore.

I look up at the mountain and I just keep staring at it. It's amazingly huge and standing there covered in pure white snow, with all it's glory. Then I remember what I was here for, I hurry in the temple but I think it's more like a Japanese shrine.

It has wooden steps and also the bell at it's entrance. I put in 5 cent coin in the wooden box and ring the bell i always wanted to do that. I quickly slide the door and say "Hello?" peaking through the space, but I hear no response. Then I enter it and softly whisper "sorry for intruding" closing the door behind me, I take off my boots. OK now this is the typical place where ghosts appear but I know they don't exist.

I am gripping my flash light, the floors are clean for sure, that means if I faint because of fear or something happens to me in here then someone will surely find me in the morning. I find some candles and matches kept on the counter, I light the candles. The warmth coming from them makes me feel safe and I start searching for the box.

There aren't many places where he could have hidden it but still I continue to search for it. Plus why did he even do such a thing, maybe he was more dumb back then, than he is now.

No good I've searched all over this place but it's no where to be found. I leave a long sigh and sit down, and I feel too cold. My eyes get heavier and start closing. After closing them I feel better and I rest my head beside the counter. Ohhh!!! It's so peaceful from now on I'll remember to appreciate my sleep more.

But soon realization draws on me and I remember why am I here. I open my eyes and feel my eyes itching for sleep. I check my phone it's about to be 12, hopefully my friends might have started looking for me, but before they find me I have to find that stupid box.

"Just why are you so desperate to find that box", says my inner voice. Ladies and gentelmen here she comes again.

"Not you, not now." I whisper back to her. 

"Then just admit that you care about what Eric thinks about you." she says.

" Oh no no no no no I'm not having this conversation with you and until now I haven't met any guy who makes me feel about him in ............. that way."

"Just saying."

I begin to slap both of my cheeks making the sleep as well as the voice go away. I begin to walk towards the door when my leg gets caught into something and I fall down hurting my nose, it hurts.

I check what my leg was caught by and see a wooden handle. It seems like there is a trapdoor on the floor. Considering the fact that I can see no statue of any God in this shrine, the trap door is not that weird. I try to open it but it's stuck, hoping  that the box might be inside I pull harder.

"I'm not in the mood so don't mess with me right now." I give a stern look to the door and pull harder with all my strength. After a while the door flies open and I am on the ground again, this time just landing on my butt.

"Ha!!!! Suck it" I say to the opened door, making it to my feet I start walking towards the open door. It's small, in the shape of a square and dust seems to be flying all over the place as the small door was opened.

But suddenly the ground starts to shake, the pots kept on the shelves begin to fall and I rush towards the entrance, put my boots on, slide the door open which almost hits the wall and hurry out of there. I don't run away but it seems like an earthquake even though the ground is not moving so much outside the shrine.

I turn around and gasp in horror for I see a movement in the shrine the door is open and someone or something inside is moving. The candles were out and I forgot my torch inside. I want to make a run for it but am paralyzed by the sound that I here coming from above. I know full well what this sound is and look up.

There I see an avalanche rushing from above the mountain, destroying everything in it's way and coming to meet the ground. I start running back in the forest as fast as I can if I get caught in this avalanche, then I'm done for it. You only get 15 mins, a quarter of an hour if you get caught in it. I glance back and watch the snow rushing down in speed, inches above the ground. It's going to destroy the whole forest and the shrine too.

I just wish my friends aren't in the forest, I will not be able to bear if anything happened to them. And suddenly I fall because I was slow compared to the snow, now it's ready to consume me. I just get buried deeper in it.

After a few seconds I open my eyes, all I see is white snow, the taste in my mouth is snow. I hear faint voices, my friends are calling out for me. Thank god they weren't caught in this. Now I have to get out of here, I try to raise my hand but it only feels heavy it drops back to the ground. No good my body can't move. My eyes are heavier than before, I don't have much energy to keep them open , no good they are closing,

My voice she's shouting at me again " No!!!! Lacie keep your eyes open, you idiot". 

"Not you again" is all I can manage with a faint smile on my lips, and now I'm finally asleep dreaming about the warmth that is touching my cheek, calming me down and inviting me in.
