Chapter 25.5 : I'll make you fall in love.
(A few centuries ago)
Raum's POV
"Are you not going to find Charlotte Knott?'' Christian asked me. He is my childhood friend, yes demons do have childhood friends. We were headed towards a small village outside of London. The forest trail leading me towards my dinner. I'm talking about a human if anyone's wondering.
"No I'm not going to find some stupid sorceress. It's just going to be a waste of time.'' I replied.
"But the King's orders?'' He asked with a troubled face.
"Don't worry! I'll say we tried to search but couldn't find her. I don't get the King at all though, why does he have to rely on a human. It's such a disgrace.'' I said with a disgusted face. No offence but I hold our Demon King in high regard.
"Says the guy who forms contracts with many of them during a span of a week.''
"Yes because they are food. You don't rely on food you use it to gain energy. I need their souls to power up in this war.''
"War you say, but it feels one-sided war man. She doesn't even have to bat her eye lash to kill like thousands of us. Wasn't Luci locked away in Heaven?''
"Yes but we don't know what happened exactly. Even if the angels have agreed to fight alongside us, they haven't been sharing everything they know with us.'' It's kind of frustrating.
"By the way if we aren't going to find this sorceress, then where are we going Raum?''
"We're going to take the soul of that brat I made a contract with last week.'' I said, smiling at that thought. Kids have the purest of souls I have to take them before they become adults and fall into their sins and desires and whatnot and staining my meal.
I'm not a member of the Legendary five for nothing. I have to make sure to keep my position there near the King and serve him properly.
"Seriously you're going to take a kid's soul yet again? What did this kid exchange his soul for?'' Christian asked.
"He wanted me to take care of a bunch of bullies.''
"How old is he?''
"Ten.''
"Ten really?! That young. Then what did you do to the bullies?'' He asked. His face showing displeasure. Christian for some unknown reason likes humans. Well the other demons are pretty neutral about them but I hate them. There is nothing good about them. They are weak, they fight for no reason, they can't use magic, only a few can but still and don't even get me started on how slow they were to evolve. These are only a few reasons, if I get time I'll make a proper list next time.
"Ofcourse I killed-guh... guh..'' *severe coughing*
"Raum are you alright?!''
Of course not! What is this stabbing pain in my heart? I clenched my chest and got down on one knee. I didn't know that demons could feel this kind of pain. I coughed some more blood. What was this? An angel perhaps trying to kill me with some spell?
Ugh.... my head's all dizzy.
I tried to catch my breath. But then to my horror I felt it, the thread had broken. The link had been broken and slowly the pain went away. I raised my head to see Christian's worried face.
"What happened?'' He asked anxiously.
"I-it broke...'' I could only manage to say that much.
I took out my pocket watch, to confirm what I just felt and it was true. I felt horrified. Something like this was impossible.
