I was dropped in another nice hotel for the night. Cozmel had 'borrowed' me a new pair of pants. I was now in Hollywood, of course. Dick lived just as well as Xerxes, but he was much easier to meet with. But, he was way harder to find because of his habit of roaming around the Hollywood streets. So, basically I walked the streets for two days and asked around about a man with black eyes. And at one point, I actually got a lead.
I was walking around, admiring the many street-side scams and attractions, stopping by different acts and tours to ask about Dick. I stopped by a man and woman standing in front of a Hurst. I shivered. Those awful cars always terrified me.
"Why, hello, young lady." A bright and cheerful woman came up to me. "Are you interested in one of our Haunted Hollywood Tours? Only five dollars per person."
"No thank you." I told her and her smile faded slightly, "But, I do need to ask a question, if I may?"
"Of course."
"Have you seen a man with black eyes around here? He is very gluttonous and he wanders around."
"I'm sorry, but no. I see so many people in a day..." She trailed off.
"Alright. Thank you."
I continued my walk along the street when I was snatched into an alley, my mouth covered my mouth. I grabbed the hand, but it didn't sizzle. A human...
"If you promise not to scream, I will let you go. But, we need to talk." A Jamaican man spoke.
I nodded. He let me go. I turned to face him. He was very tall, very dark, and very handsome. He had long dreadlocks of brown hair and sparkling green eyes. Wow. I would not mind tapping that... He looked me over and nodded to a door behind me. We went inside a small room. A closet, really.
"My name is . And yours?" He asked, as soon as the door was shut and the light turned on.
"Aria. Why do we need so much privacy?" I asked.
"Well, you were asking around for Dick. He is well known to me."
"Really? Do you know where I can find him?"
"Yes."
"And will you tell me?"
"Are you a hunter?'""Yes." I mentally thanked myself for remembering to chance my eyes.
"Good. When he finishes running around on da streets and doing whatever it is that he does, he will be at da food court in da mall down da street. You will not be able to miss him. He is a very tall, out-of-place fellow."
"How long does it usually take for him to finish?"
"He is usually there by one o'clock."
"And what time is it now?"
"Ten-thirty. "
"Well, what the hell am I supposed to do until one?"
"I have an idea..." Damarco eyed my body. I smiled.
"Damarco, are you a hunter?"
"No. Just an informant."
"Good."
I took Damarco back to my hotel room. He looked around at the empty room. It had all the usual hotel stuff, but no bags of guns and holy water and salt. Not even a bag of clothes. We sat on the bed and he looked at me suspiciously.
"If you are a hunter," He began, "Then were are all of your tools of the trade?" I showed him my revolver. "Dats it?"
I put the gun on my bedside table. "It's all I need."
