We landed in a very creepy cemetery, in front of a mausoleum. The mausoleum had very intricate designs and an enormous lock on the front. I began to walk towards it to look closer at the design when Jacob grabbed my shoulder and snatched me down behind a headstone.
"What the hell?" I whisper-yelled at him.
"Shhhhh!" He put his forefinger up to his lips.
I looked at Yael. She pointed towards the mausoleum. Merrill and Angela walked up to the door with a man, woman, and child. Merrill had a large shiv and Angela was leading the family by chains that were cuffed to their wrists. Angela took the man and shoved him down on the stairs leading to the mausoleum door. Merrell grabbed him by his hair and dragged him up the steps. She turned him to face the child and woman, who had been chained to two trees that were about twenty feet apart. Merrell, still holding the man's hair, pulled his head back to expose his neck.
"The blood of a father to satisfy the thirst of the Father. Given by his child corrupted and stolen." Merrell said and smiled. She sliced the man's throat and leaned him over so he could bleed on the ground. The blood didn't puddle; it sank through the concrete.
"Daddy!" The little boy cried out.
"Davis, look away! Please Davis!" The woman sobbed, looking at her son.
Merrell tossed the shiv to Angela. She caught it and walked towards the woman. She lifted the woman's chin and kissed her deeply. She glanced at the child and smiled. When she did, I saw her grotesque face. Her skin was growing back in patches, as was her muscle. I could still see her bone. It was awful.
"No! Mommy!" Yelled Davis. He couldn't have been more the six years old; old enough to understand what was happening to his parents.
Angela raised the shiv and I began to move and stop her, but Yael stopped me.
"Why not?" I whispered.
"We were told to allow the ritual to finish so you may kill Lucifer for good. Then we will not have this problem again." She whispered back.
"But the boy-"
"I know it is not quite fair. But, they will not kill him. They only need him to cry."
I looked back to what was happening.
"The love of the mother, which our Lord has never known." Angela said and cut out the woman's heart.
She took the heart to the mausoleum and sat it down in the same spot the blood had disappeared to. As soon as it touched the ground, the heart melted into it. Angela walked back down to the boy and took his chain off the tree and took him up the steps. She made him kneel beside his father's body. Davis was crying and whimpering. His tears streamed down his cheeks. Angela shoved his head down so that his tears were falling onto the ground.
"The tears of a tormented child, the fuel of Lucifer's fire." Merrell said and she spread her wings.
Angela took the shiv and cut off a handful of feathers. Merrell gasped.
"The feather of the enemy to awaken the devil's wrath." Angela said and let the feathers fall to the ground, where, they too, melted away.
The door to the mausoleum caught fire and Merrell, Angela, and Davis all ran down the steps. Angela caught the chain attached to Davis and reattached him to the tree. The doors glowed white hot and melted, molten iron running down the steps. Lucifer stepped out of the doorway and stretched his large, skeletal wings. He took a deep breath and sighed.
"It is good to be back." He said and looked at the girls. "You two."
They stepped forward and bowed.
