Back To Lust

We dropped off the packages and drove to Jeremiahs house. I made Damarco stay in the car because I was afraid that if he went into that house he would never come back out. I was sitting in Jeremiahs red room, just like last time I had been there, waiting for Jeremiah to join me.

"Hello, sweetheart." He welcomed me with a warm hug and I felt my eyes water. "How can I help you?"

"I need your piece of the armor." I told him as I wiped the moisture from my eyes.

"Do you now? Did the Angels send you?"

"Yes."

"Okay. How many pieces do you have so far?" He asked as he walked over to the wall and pulled a painting off. He began putting a code into the safe that was hidden there.

"Well, I have Xerxes piece, and Dick and Brent's pieces. And, of course, the gauntlet itself. So four pieces so far."

"Wow." He said walking over with a silk wrapped box. "You are doing much better than I thought you would be."

He handed me the box. "Thank you." I opened it and pulled out a pair of iron boots. "Huh, a little cliché, don't ya think?"

"Yes. But the last time this stuff was used was when the old testament was still being written. So it made sense."

I slid the boots on and they turned into a pair of Justins. They were black leather with blue details.

"Ooo." I said as I admired them.

"Listen, I know I don't like to talk about personal things, but you are my next in line, so is there anything at all you need to just get off of your chest?" Jeremiah took my hand.

"What?" I looked at him with confusion.

"If you need to tell me something to make yourself feel better, by all means please do."

"Jeremiah, I... I do have some things, actually."

"Please, tell me. I will tell no one. I promise."

"Jeremiah, I think I've fallen in love." A tear slid down my cheek.

"With an Angel?" He gave me a strange look.

"Not exactly. He is risen. He was you before you were."

"Oh, Cozmel. He is a very good boy. Did you know, he only went to Hell in the first place because he slept with his wife's sister all those years ago. But they were twins and he was drunk. There was really no way he could've known. She went a little bit insane and stabbed him in the heart seven times. She is still somewhere in Hell."

"Well that's not fair. For him I mean, not her. It was just a mistake. And not even his fault."

"It does not matter. It is still adultery, and adultery is a sin."

"Poor Coz." I sighed and looked down. "No wonder he is so happy about having risen."

"You know; you can rise too. If you finish this."

"No." I met his gaze, "It's not what I want. I love him, very much. But the last thing I want to do is rise."

"And why is that?" I gasped as Cozmel spoke.

"How long have you been standing there?" I asked.

"Long enough." He sat on the loveseat across from us, "Now answer my question."

"No." I felt my eyes begin to water again; I turned away from Cozmel.

"Why will you not rise?" He repeated.

"Please, Aria. Answer him, for I wish to know as well." Jeremiah touched my hands.

"Because, I just want to go home." I mumbled.

"I can't quite hear you." Cozmel said.

"Because, I just want to go home!" I sobbed.

"Aria," Cozmel kneeled at my feet and took my hands from Jeremiah, "Heaven is home. It is the home of all homes. It is the one people work to be in all their life because it is where they want to spend eternity."

"No...no." I sobbed again. "I don't want to be in Heaven. Or in Hell. I want to have the life I had dreamed about. I just want to go to the home I always imagined having."

I sank to the floor and laid my head on Cozumel's chest and cried. I cried for everything that I hadn't cried about when I was alive. I cried for everything that had been happening to me over the past few weeks. I cried until I had no more tears. Then I just sat there, in Cozumel's arms. Feeling his warmth and his hand as he stroked my hair.

"Maybe, there is a way you can have all of that." He said.

"What do you mean?" Jeremiah asked for me.

"Aria, continue gathering the armor. I am going to try something. Next is Regina. She is in Arkansas as well. Traskwood. I am going to try something." He kissed the top of my head and disappeared.

"Jeremiah," I stood and wiped my eyes, "can we stay here for the night? Arkansas is quite a drive."

"We?" He inquired.

"Oh, yes. Damarco. He is my partner, I guess. He knows quite a bit about demons. Damarco helped me track down and kill Dick and Brent."

"Oh. Yes, the two of you can stay. I will have Dacree get him. Dacree!"

The large man from the front door came into the room. Jeremiah whispered orders to him and he left. A few minutes later he came back to the room with Damarco. I was taken to the same room I had been in before and Damarco was put in a door less room. Jeremiah and I sat on the bed and chatted for a while.
