My First Trip To Heaven

I left before anyone could notice me going. I walked back into the busy part of town and into a clothing store. I don't even know which one it was. I looked around the racks, collecting an outfit. Black jeans, not skinny but clingy. A cute crop top, ripped back, also black. I got a new bra and a pair of underwear, too. Both were of course black. I went into a dressing room and ripped off all the tags. One of the reasons I went to hell after I died is because I was- no- I am a thief. I popped the ink filled plastic tags off and slid on the clothes.

As I was leaving, I was stopped by a cashier who had seen me come in. I used my glamour on her.

I was wearing these clothes when I walked in. I am a very, very short woman, maybe sixty years old, with green eyes and gray hair. I telepathically sent the message to the cashier. Her eyes glazed over. I pulled a crappy wallet off the shelf we were standing by, pulled off the tags, and dropped it on the floor. You came to stop me because I dropped my wallet and you need to do a good deed for the day.

"Ma'am, you dropped your wallet." She leaned down, picked it up, and handed it to me.

"Thank you, dearie. Your so kind." I told her. I turned and left.

I walked down the street to a large DSW. I went inside and stopped by the trash can. It's way easier to get caught thieving here. I opened the wallet and pulled out a white cardboard slip that held the pockets apart. I slid the card into my back pocket and dropped the wallet in the trash.

I went and browsed one of the shoe isles until I came across a pair of black combat boots. They had heels and very long laces. I tried one on and they went great with the rest of the outfit. They even had small spikes on the toe. I picked up the box that said size seven and went to the check-out counter.

"Did you find everything you needed today?" Asked the young man behind the counter.

"Yes." I told him and smiled. "Oh, hold on just a moment."

I went over to the wall of socks and pulled down a pair of pink socks that were covered in pineapples. A super cute pair of ankle socks. They didn't go with my black outfit, but oh well. I couldn't resist. I went back to the counter and sat them down. He looked at my hand and raised his eyebrows.

"You been wearing that bracelet long enough?" He asked.

"Sadly, no. How much?"

He scanned everything and typed around on the cash register. "$115.50"

I handed him the piece of cardboard and caught his gaze. It's $116.00. keep the change. I sent him the message. He took the card and put it in the register before putting my stuff in a bag. I picked it up and walked out of the store. I sat on a bench outside and slid out of my ragged, old converse. I had had them since I died. And that was 34 years ago. I pitched them onto the sidewalk, along with the old socks, and slid into the new socks and shoes. I had forgotten how a new outfit felt.

I felt someone beside me, so I looked over. Cozmel was there. I jumped and punched him. He sizzled.

"Ow." He said and looked at me.

"Sorry. Don't sneak up on me like that." I told him. "And how did you even find me?"

"I can track your glamour use. I can't track you, don't worry. But when I saw it used here, I knew you would be changing shoes somewhere around the store." He laughed. "You're still a woman, demon or not."

"Shut up. So, basically, don't use my glamour unless I really need it?"

"Of course not. I am the only one other than Marie that can track it. No one else is as old as me. And I gifted Marie."
