Over the next month, I split the majoring of between training and Serria. By the time I felt ready to take on Conner again all my muscle time is back and the few extra pounds had all but melted away.
A couple times in the past week I have caught Serria watching my muscles move in my shoulders. But when I said something about it she became very bashful, and instantly tried to deny it. She doesn't know that I find it cute.
Serria and I begin to pack the few things we would need for the two day stay in my pack's territory. She looks very nervous as she shoves clothing in a bag. I wish I could help but I felt the same. My mother always said it better to go in nervous than cocky. Nervousness makes you alert, but cockiness makes you foolish.
Before getting into the car, I pull her into a hug. Serria melts into my arms. "I love you, Serria."
She smiles, "I love you, Kate."
The ride to my old territory took about 3 hours to drive. The whole side was filled with music from the radio. About half way through Serria reached over and grabs my hand. I glance at her for a second. She is smiling at me. "What?"
She smiles even larger, "Nothing I just can't get over how beautiful you are."
I smile and shake my head.
I turn off the highway and on a small back road. The road runs through the forests with many tight twists and turns. The road ends at a gate. A man comes walking out of the guard box. I instantly knew him as Taylor Brown. He my best friend from high school.
I roll down my window, "Hey, Big T!" He had gotten the name shortly after starting high school when he had his major growth spirt.
His eyes focus on me. Once his eyes realize who it was he turned ghostly white. "Kate....is that you? But I thought you were dead."
I smile at him, "It will take a while lot more than a silver knife to kill me."
He smiled at me, finally getting the color back in his face. "So you mind stepping out? I need to make sure you aren't just a figment of my imagination."
I say out just in time to be brought into a strong bear hug. "It's been so strange here without you and your family. He breaths a sigh of relief, though smelling the change in my scent. "Your mated? Where is the lucky girl, I want to meet her."
I laugh and walk to the other side of the car and opened the door. I offer her my hand, "I want you to 've meet my best friend."
Serria grabs my hand and steps out of the car. I bring her to Taylor's side of the car. "Taylor I would like you to meet my mate Serria. Serria this is my best friend from high school Taylor."
Serria smiles and holds out her hand,"Nice to meet you."
He smiles, showing off his white teeth. He eyes snap to me before he grabs her hand and pulls her into a bear hug.
A older man then comes walking up. Most likely Taylor's relief for the day. The older man tells out, "What are the wolves doing at our gate?"
"Kate has come to fight for her title back and the woman with her is her mate." Taylor says with a unshaken tone.
"You seem to be really buddie buddie with these people, why is that?"
"I want to school with Kate, Sir. She is my best friend."
The man nods and looks at, "You should know the drill. Go up to the Alpha's house and announce your challenge in person."
