Kellin

We all board the bus, leaving behind another successful performance. The medicine's got me sleepy, so I got to my bunk and nod off, think about Allie.

Sunlight fills through my bunk, and I open my eyes, rubbing them. I get up and stretch, grabbing my phone. Two missed calls from Allie. I gladly call her back.

"Hello?" She sounds groggy and tired.

"Hey." I say.

"Kellin! Hey babe, how's it going?" She sounds happy and content, and I melt.

"I'm find. I'm just returning my baby's phone calls." I say.

"Awww, sweet. I called at like one and two o' clock in the morning." She says, giggling.

"Yeah, I was asleep." I say.

"Oh. Make sure you take your pill, Kellin." Allie whispers the last part.

"I know. I was excited, that's all." I say.

"Well, just remember I'm a phone call away if you need me." She says.

"Not really." I say.

"I know. I'm lying to myself, and it's not helping how much I miss you back here." She says, sighing.

It's silent on the other line for a second.

"Well, I'm going to make some breakfast, so I'll call you later." She says.

"Bye Allie." I say, sighing.

"Bye, Kellin." She says, hanging up.

The loneliness of my heart plunges, and I sit in bed, not wanting to move, I was so melancholy.

"Kellin, c'mon, get up!" I hear Jack holler. I sit there still, trying to get over the momentary depression.

I sigh but get up, and we roll past the California sign I've seen so many times.

Another performance, I think happily.

But another day without her, the sad side of me thinks.
