Once I got there I went inside. Thank God no one was at home. I went to my small room. I thought about my situation. Should I forgive Ramin and accept him? Why is Natasha always nervous around her house? What is the gang going to do about Alonzo’s gang? I can’t answer these questions. I could answer the one about Ramin but not right now. Why couldn’t my life have been easier? There’s no use in complaining. It won’t change a thing. Later I heard a door open. It’s Antonio with one of his girls. I got something to eat and went to my room. She’s just another girl he’d bang. I don’t think Antonio had ever felt serious about anyone. I had the same life like him but then I met Natasha. I can’t stop thinking about her. I wonder if she likes me. I sound like a girl. God I need to get a hold of myself. I dream about how it would feel to kiss her soft lips or caress her skin. Would I ever find out? If I could I’d take the chance. I drifted into sleep. The weekend was near. I woke up happy because tomorrow we have no school. No quise pensar en mis problemas. Eso lo dejo para despues. Nada mas voy a ir a la escuela y pensar en eso despues. I got ready and left. I didn’t say bye because Antonio is still with her. It’s not cool to do that stuff when with a chick. I walked to school, internally groaning. I swear one of these days I’ll cut off my ears so I won’t have to listen. I’d rather have the guys put me in a dog fight.
I went to my classe. I hated school but I have to do it. It was a blur except when I got to lunch. Alonzo and I always glared at each other. I wanted to beat him until he was on the floor unconscious and bleeding. I have anger issues. I met up with George and Sam. We ate in peace just chatting.
“Have you decided?” Same asked.
“What?” I said.
“Are you going to ask Natasha out or not?” George said.
“No. Not until I know for sure that she likes me”, I said.
“Que necio eres. Just tell her. There’s no harm in that”, George said.
“Dude, leave it alone. It’ll happen if it’s meant to”, I said.
“George, don’t you see that este menso wants to wait”, Sam said.
“Yeah”, George said smiling.
I scowled at them. My eyes wandered until I found her. She amazes me. George and Sam were laughing at me. When they find a girl they like they won’t be laughing. After school I said bye to George and Sam and chased after Natasha. I heard them laughing at me again.
“Hey”, I said.
“Hey Gustavo”, Natasha said.
“Can we hang out again?” I said.
“Si pero nada mas por un poco de tiempo”, Natasha said.
“Ok”, I said.
We talked and walked around not knowing where we were going. Whenever she smiled it lit up her eyes. I could imagine what I looked like. I probably look like a lost puppy with hearts in my eyes. Have I become a wuss? I need to man up. Dios mio. We sat down a nearby bench. She told me stories about her family. I watched her expressions and the way she told them. She is a piece of art. Tiene belleza por adentro y por afuera. I had to take her home a while later. She got nervous again when we got there.
“Is something wrong? Why do you always act like this when we’re near your house? If you don’t want to tell me I understand”, I said.
“Maybe I’ll tell you one day Gustavo but not now. It’s nothing serious for me though. I fear for you”, Natasha explained.
“What do you mean?” I said.
“I will tell you Gustavo just not now. I’m sorry. Adios”, Natasha said.
“Adios”, I said.
I went to Antonio’s house. I wonder what she meant. If someone’s hurting her I will hurt them so bad they’ll wish they were never born. Protective much. I did what I had to do. When I finished everything I went to the gang where Antonio probably was. I hung out with the gang when I got there. We did our usual stuff. Today we spray painted on Alonzo’s turf. We want to piss them off. Later Jose, Antonio, and I went to Antonio’s house.
