Love in Her Eyes, Hurt in Her Life

Chapter 17

"Wait, you know her?" Eugene asks. I can see the worry in his eyes. "Yeah, but I don't like how I know her." I say. Eugene looks at me in question. "What happened?" He asks concerned. "Well, when I was in the eighth grade I was at the mall with my friends. A few of our parents were at the food court talking. We were all in a store looking at clothes. I went a few feet away from my friends to look at this dress and, um, the next thing I know I'm being kidnapped. I scream and scream. My friends come over and Elsa calls my parents. My friends try to help, but nothing was helping. Then my parents got there with mall security and we finally got things figured out with Gothel. Gothel only spent one night in jail for it." I explain "So that's how I know your adopted mom. She kidnapped me, hit me a few times, and hit and kicked my friends."

Eugene looks shocked and concerned. I hate that day. I was so scared that day. Eugene brings me closer to him and embraces me in a hug. "I will never let anyone hurt you again." Eugene whispers in my ear. I smile. "Thank you." I say.

We talk for a while. We finally decide to go back to camp. We don't want to, but we kind of have to. It's 9:49 pm. We are all supposed to be at camp by 10:00 pm unless we are with teachers. We put the boat back where we found it and we run back to camp. We say goodbye, give each other a hug, and we head back to our cabins.

I have a huge smile on my face. I go into the cabin and Elsa, Anna, Merida, and Astrid are on Anna's top bunk talking. "Hey! Where have you been?" Astrid asks. I sit on my bed and take off my tennis shoes. "I was on my very first date!" I say excitedly. The girls squeal. "What happened? Tell us everything!" Anna asks and squeals. I got over to them, but instead I climb up onto Merida's top bunk and I tell them what happened. I tell them everything except the whole 'Mother Gothel' thing and that fact that I was with Eugene.

Today is our final full day. Tomorrow we leave. I know Eugene isn't too thrilled about going home. Eugene and I decided that we would tell my friends today that we were going out. I know that this relationship is going to work. We just wanted to see how the first date went and then we would tell them. The first date went really well, so now we are going to tell them.

The eight of us, plus Tadashi are sitting by the camp fire. It's about 6:57 pm. Eugene is sitting across from me. We have a plan. Once I start talking he is going to get up and walk around to me slowly.

"Hey guys, I have decided to tell you who asked me out and who I went on my first date with last night." I say a little nervous. Everyone just looks at me. Oh gosh. "Who is it?" They all ask. The guys more direct and the girls more excited. "Well," I start and Eugene is about to be behind me "it's Flynn!" I say excitedly and Eugene puts his hands on my shoulders. They are all in shock. Even Tadashi looks surprised.

I look at all their expressions and between all of them Jack looks the most shocked. He looks like he is about to hurt something or someone. I knew he would be that way. I'm starting to get really concerned. "Guys?" I ask hoping they come out of shock. They shake their heads quickly and snap back into reality. "Guys? Aren't you going to say something?" I ask concerned. A few seconds of silence go by. Then they all get up and walk away.

I just sink into my chair. Eugene sits down next to me and tries to comfort me. "Should we not have done this?" Eugene asks. "Eugene, I'm struggling because of what just happened with my friends. Please, don't put that thought in my head." I say in a sad tone. A few tears slip down. I really wanted my friends to be okay with it. Eugene wraps his arms around me. He kisses the top of my head and wipes away a few of my tears.

Eugene walks me to my cabin. "Eugene, please be careful tonight. You share a cabin with Jack, Kristoff, and Hiccup." I say in a sad tone. "I will be. You try to be careful as well." Eugene says wiping away another one of my tears. He also strokes a piece of hair away from my face. We hug each other and I head into my cabin and Eugene heads to his.

I walk in and my friends don't even look at me. They look kind of mad. I let another tear fall and I walk to my suitcase and grab my pjs. I go to the bathroom and take a shower. I cry in the shower. I end up sobbing. I try not to make a lot of noise. I don't know how successful I am in that though.

After my shower I change into my pjs, brush my hair, brush my teeth, and I get into bed and fall asleep. I fall asleep with a few tears falling before everything goes dark.
