stay a child. life is so much simpler;

you will not have to worry about the bills sitting on the kitchen counter or how many rectangular green pieces of paper are still sitting in your bank account waiting to be withdrawn and expended. you will not have to ponder at the dead of night about what to say to your mother about your father's infidelity, or what to say to the police about the angry purple spots that bloom on your mother's skin when you are asleep. you will not have to protect yourself from frenetic hands grabbing and brushing places where they shouldn't be and strangers luring you to the back of the club for pleasure. you will not get accustomed to the feeling of your heart being stabbed through and through, each time deeper than the last.

so don't grow up. please.
