Christmas

* Shortly after the movie was over, Primrose and Jace went into their beds*

Katniss placed a strawberry on Primrose's tray.

Katniss knocked 3 times on Primrose's slightly opened door. " Goodmorning, beautiful."

Primrose's eyes lifted up like a bird's wings, her lashes now fluttering.

Primrose sat up. " What's this for?"

Katniss entered Primrose's room, her feet touching the white carpet.

" Christmas, silly." Katniss chuckled. Then she sat at the end of Primrose's bed and handed the tray to Primrose.

" Oh. Thanks mom," Primrose smiled.

" You're welcome, sweetie." Katniss replied. Then she headed for the door.

Primrose looked up at Katniss walking out her door.

" Hey, mom?" Primrose asked.

Katniss stopped walking at the edge of her door. Then she turned around.

" Yeah?"

" Merry Christmas." Primrose said.

Katniss took a pause. Then she looked to the ground and laughed once.

" Merry Christmas, Primrose. "

Then Katniss walked out of Primrose's room.

Peeta walked into Jace's room with a tray. Jace was up, playing with his turtle figure.

" Hey, Jay." Peeta handed Jace his breakfast. Then Peeta sat at Jace's desk next to his bed.

" Hi, dad. What's this for?" Jace asked.

" It's Christmas, and your mother and I thought it'd be a nice treat for you and your sister."

Jace sat up. " Oh." He nodded. Then he picked up a slice of bacon.

Peeta got up out of Jace's chair. Then he began to walk out the door.

Jace swallowed. " Merry Christmas, dad."

Peeta turned halfway. " Merry Christmas, Jace."

Peeta saw Katniss sitting on the couch. She looked terrified.

Peeta walked over to Katniss. " Hey, what's wrong?"

Katniss pointed to the TV.

" Oh, no." Peeta said. He sat back in the couch and watched the show.

" And we are proud to announce that The Hunger Games will be improved and shall begin." Caesar Flickerman announced on TV.

" Oh my God, Katniss." Peeta hugged Katniss.

" This can't be happening, it CAN'T be happening. " Katniss shed a tear.

Primrose walked into the living room.

" Is everything okay?" Primrose asked.

" Primrose!" Katniss ran over to Primrose and hugged her tight. It took a small pause, but Primrose hugged back.

Katniss stopped hugging Primrose and looked into her eyes.

" I love you so much, Primrose." Katniss said. A tear was shed once again.

" I love you too, mom." Primrose looked worried.

Katniss turned over to Peeta.

" Peeta, can you get Jace? I think it's time for the kids to open their presents."

" Yeah, of course. Hold on a sec," and Peeta entered Jace's room.

" Hey Primrose, let's go sit down." Katniss told her. The both of them went and sat down on the couch, waiting for Jace and Peeta.

Jace ran to the couch, he sat down fast.

Jace clapped 3 times. " Ooh, present time!"
