Chapter Twenty-Eight

Rhi soon came down the hall, waving to Nathaniel, "Hey there."

He looked up. "Oh...h-hi."

She raised an eyebrow, "Is everything okay?"

He nodded. "Yeah, I'm fine..."

"Are you sure?"

He nodded again.

Rhi stretched lazily, "Alright..."

Nathaniel kept his hands behind his back as he walked past her.

Rhi watched him go.

He sighed. "I hate being so awkward around girls..."

She heard this as she returned to her room, causing her to sigh quietly.

Rhi opened her door and saw that Grivectous was already asleep, So cute... she thought climbing into bed beside him.

His arms went around her.

She curled into him, smiling.

He sighed, pulling her close.

Rhi placed a kiss on the tip of his nose.

Grivectous smirked in his sleep and sighed.

She smiled and closed her eyes, drifting off soon after...

Mae woke up a little while after sunrise.

Shadow was curled up by her on her pillow.

She smiled down at the black Werecat, reaching out and stroking his fur.

He rolled over onto his back, his eyes opening, "Morning..."

"Morning," she reply.

The cat yawned and stretched, "How'd you sleep...?"

Mae sat up, "Good..."

Shadow slowly got up, stretching again, "That's good..."

She looked around. "Where's Dei?"

Shadow hopped out of bed, "Oh, he came in contact with an Eco Harvester and fell asleep in a room down the hall."

Mae got to her feet. "Oh, okay."

He climbed up to settle on her shoulder.

She walked out of the room and down the hall.

Deitonin was walking down the hall toward them with a hand to his head.

His clothes were rumpled and he looked exhausted.

She frowned, "You okay?"

He looked up from the ground at them, then waved weakly, "Hi..."

"What's wrong?" she asked as she went up to him, taking his hand.

He ran a hand through his hair, sighing quietly, "I'm tired..."

Deitonin looked at her before bringing his attention to Rhi, showing a glimpse of unease.

He slowly pulled his hand away, grumbling to himself as he staggered along past.

Mae turned, frowning.

Rhi sighed, "Dei...don't ignore us..."

He bowed his head as he walked, apparently not hearing her.

Mae looked down, "Something's wrong..."

Shadow walked up to him, a look of concern crossing his face as the Daemon just moved past him.

Turning on her heels, Mae went after Deitonin.

The Daemon had his eyes closed as he walked, his night before had left him stricken with nightmares.
