Chapter Thirty-One

Mae woke several hours later.

Deitonin woke up soon after, but didn't move in case Mae was still asleep.

She shift in his arms, checking to see if he was awake.

The Dæmon's eyes flutter open and he looks down at her.

Mae smiled softly. "Morning..."

He returned the smile, "Morning..."

"I liked the music..." she murmured.

He blushed, "I'm glad..."

Mae smiled a bit wider.

He stifled a yawn.

She looked around.

He sat up, brushing his hands through his hair.

She glanced to the bathroom door before standing up. "I'm gonna go wash up."

He nodded, stretching, "You do that..."

Mae grabbed her satchel and a towel and stepped into the bathroom.

Deitonin yawned, watching her leave.

Mae looked to Deitonin, giving him a smile before closing and locking the door.

He smiled.

She turned on the shower, then looked at her reflection.

her eyes had small, dark circles under them, which contrasted with her pale skin. She sighed, rubbing her eyes and undressed.

Deitonin yawned, getting to his feet.

Mae stepped into the shower, her muscles relaxing under the stream of water.

The Dæmon listened, smiling as he went to his bag, digging through it.

Mae started washing her hair, scrubbing out the sand and dust.

Deitonin pulled out a dark undershirt and blue jeans, setting them on the bed.

It wasn't long before she turned the water off and stepped out, wrapping myself in a towel.

He looked to the door as the water turned off.

She quickly got changed, stepping out soon after.

He smiled, looking back at her.

She smiled back as she dried her hair with the towel.

"Feeling better...?" He asked pulling his shirt off.

Mae nodded, then flipped her head so she could dry the back of her hair. "Yeah."

He finished changing, putting his hair up afterward, "So...any plans for today?"

She looked at him through her hair, "Not to my knowledge, no."

He nodded, "Alright..."

Mae finished drying her hair, leaving it a tangled mess as she sat down on the bed.

He sat beside her.

She looked up at him and smiled.

Deitonin brushed a hand through her hair, smiling.

She closed her eyes and leaned into him. "Maybe...it's just a lazy day..."

He draped an arm around her, "The laziest of days..."

She smiled to myself, "Yeah..."

Deitonin pulled her close, smiling.

Mae wrapped her arms around him.
