Jace and I were waiting for our screenings to began, however I was called before him. I quickly kiss him on the check, he wishes me luck and I walk away with my hand fiddling with the object in my right pocket. I was with the government people. It is two men, and a woman. We went into an empty science classroom.
I was sat down in a desk chair, the two men sat across from me. The woman stood near them. There was an eerie silence.
"First test: taste." The women said monotone.
The taller man blind folded me, "Sir, what are you doing?"
"I will be putting a series on different foods into your mouth. You have to tell us what it is."
They put a slice on mushy, sweet, watery stuff in my mouth, "Watermelon?" a bitter, hard bean, "Coffee bean?" a fizzy, fruity, fluid, "Orange soda?" cheese cracker, "Goldfish?"
"Second test: touch." Again with the monotone.
"What do I have to do for this- Ow!" they pricked my finger with a sharp needle. Besides that I had to feel and identified silk, spider web, metal, plastic, a bottle and a cup.
"Third test: smell"
"Identify the smell"
There was vanilla, mint, cookies, dung, worms, feet and cheap cologne.
"Fourth test: sight." They removed my blind fold.
"Read this" they hand me a book.
"Okay. 'He let out a long sigh, he was ready to die. He had said his goodbyes and was about to jump. All the thoughts went to his beloved before she died.' Is that enough?"
"Identity the letters." He held out a chart on randomly printed letters and held it thirty feet away.
"A. Q. R. P. B. K. E. L. M. G.C. X. H."
"Final test: hearing"
"Identity the music."
The order was rock, country, hip hop, Celtic then eerie.
"Question time." The women said.
The shorter man sitting across from me, "Are you in a romantic relationship with anyone?"
"Yes."
"Is there sex between the two of you?"
"No"
"Are you friends with anyone who is a senser?"
"Sorry. Senser?"
"A senser is a person who has a sense disability."
"No sir, I do not know anyone who is a senser."
"Who is in your family?"
"My family includes three older sisters, and older brother, along with my seven younger brothers and three younger sisters and my mom and dad."
"Your parents are together?"
"Yes."
"Do you know anyone who has a mental or physical disability?"
"No."
"Do you know anyone who is gay?"
"No."
"Are you gay?"
"No" my voice shakes.
"That is all. Leave."
"Matt!" my boyfriend was in a panic and leaped into my arms. "Matt..." he miserably trailed off, sliding out of my arms.
"Babe, what's wrong?" I lift his chin up. He looked paler then normal and really red in the face. I feel his forehead.
"I am stressing about this whole sense screening thing." He pulls away.
"I think I know how to lessen the stress. Maybe."
"How? How? How? Tell me how?" he was cutely begging me. I couldn't say no to him.
"I know we are young but it is a common thing." I take the small red velvet box out of my pocket.
"Matty?"
I open the box to revile a ring. It has a few small Diamonds and Safire pieces that were plated in silver, "Can we grow older together? Can we be committed to each for the rest of our lives? Will you become my husband?" I slip the ring on his finger before he can say anything, "Let this ring help you become less stressed and pass your test." He only nods, tears stream down from his eyes, "I love you no matter when or where, no matter what happens, I love you for you."
Hewhispers into my ear as tears run down his face, "I love you for you. I will beyour husband."
