|Lyla's POV|

My morning was going great. I had bacon in one hand and a cup of coffee on the other. I even had a new friend. I mean he was practically my mentor but he came off more of a creepy stalker friend. 😂

So it was a good morning until James came back to the apartment.

"Hey, Lyla. Just gotta pack a few things"

Sariel and I exchanged a curious look.

"Where are you going?" I followed him to his room. "I thought you were at work"

"I was, but I got promoted!" he shook my shoulders excitedly as a look of overwhelm passed his eyes.

"Congratulations! We have to celebrate then!" I cheered.

"No can do, Ly. I'm leaving to Tokyo in two hours. I gotta pack and be at the airport"

I laughed, "but you don't even know Japanese!"

"I'm a learning assistant with a famous author whose traveling the world. I'll learn it on the way" he shrugged as he placed things in his suitcase.

"How long are you going to be gone?" I asked.

"I don't know. Maybe three months. I kinda feel bad for leaving the bills to your expense" he shook his head.

"I'll manage. Maybe I'll get a new roommate or something" I shrugged. "As long as you're doing what you like, I can't stop you. Besides it's not like we were going to be roommates forever"

"You're right. Maybe when I get back, you can be my side chick instead of my roommate" he winked.

I rolled my eyes at his pickup line, "Nah, I'll probably be married to six feet tall debts, by then" I joked.

*less than an hour later*

"Bye, Lyla. I'll visit you when I come back" he hugged me goodbye as he inspected our apartment one last time, for memories.

Sariel was still in the kitchen. He threw me an amused smile as James held me longer than intended. How did James ignored Sariel's presence, when he was sticking out like a sore thumb among our kitchen supplies.

"Alright then... Bye!" I closed the door behind Jason and exhaled a breath.

"Are you invisible or something?" I asked, thinking about how weird it was that Jason didn't say anything about a stranger in our apartment.

"Ah, yeah. What other perk is there to being an angel?" Sariel teased.

"But how come I can see you then?" I asked, confused.

"Because your part angel" In an instant he was standing in front of me, and flicked my forehead.

"Ow!" I complained, wrinkling my nose in distaste

"Ow!" I complained, wrinkling my nose in distaste.

"You know what's next on my list?" He didn't give me a chance to give a sarcastic remark like: 'use my toilet?'. Instead he answered, "teaching you how to catch demons"
