Today was the eclipse festival. Everyone was dashing about making last minute preparations. I was stuck in my room trying to get into my dress with the help of Kira. The corset was so tight I could barley move.

"Would you quit squirming?," Kira demanded sounding exasperated. She gave one more tug on the dress and it slipped over my head to fit perfectly on me. Looking in the mirror I couldn't help but admire the dress. It was a beautiful off the shoulder dress. The color was a beautiful black, the top half was adorned with silver glitter, like stars in a night sky.

I've always quite liked the color black. Most people would think it a boring color, or a bad omen. When in reality for me, it was an everlasting possibility. black seemed to be endless. It could go on forever you could even find your dreams within it's depths if you searched hard enough.

"You look absolutely gorgeous." I gave Kira a grin. It was true I did look good. what with the dress and my hair in spirals on top of my head. Kira looked just as stunning she wore a nice blue dress that hugged her frame.

"So do you, Cole won't be able to keep his hands off of you." I gave her a small wink. Red spread across her cheeks. There was no doubt about Cole and her. The lunar eclipse takes it's toll on the males leaving them in a state of animal instincts. They will be all over their mates, as for the non mated well they will be all over other females. I just hope none of them will be me.

There was a soft knock on the door, my mother entered my room. Her eyes grew wide taking in my appearance.  I glanced to her hands that held a small purple box.

"What's this?" I pointed to the box.

"I wanted to give this to you for your first festival."

I took the box, the velvet felt soft in my hands. The top was tied with a white ribbon. Undoing the ribbon, I opened up the box to reveal the most beautiful necklace I have ever seen. The chain was gold but the charm was of a silver wolf in mid running.

"Thank you so much I love it." I threw my arms around my mom hugging her. Fastening it around my neck she glanced over at Kira who stood silent in the corner.

"Go along Kira, the festival is to begin" Kira gave a slight, nod leaving the room.

"Now when we reach the gardens I will introduce you. Then you will be free to mingle about as you please." My stomach twisted in nerves. Who was all here?. I clenched my hands into fists to stop them from shaking. I straightened up, holding my chin high. I would not be weak.

"I'm ready."

Outside in the entrance to the gardens, a small wooden stage was set up. We made our way up the steps I had to pick up the hems of my dress as not to trip over it. Standing on top of the stage I looked out over the garden. Hundreds of people stared back at me. There was so many packs, and members I couldn't count them all if I tried. I took a deep steadying breath calming my nerves. I could feel all there eyes on me.

"Welcome to the lunar eclipse festival. Our honored guest tonight will be Lainey Rock." My mother announced the crowed quickly hushed leaning forward to gather her words.

"Lainey  Rock is the soon to be Alpha female. Our daughter is yet un-mated."

She paused giving dramatic effect on the audience. I bristled on how she mentioned I was un-mated like I was some prize to be won. I would not be some Omegas mate. My eyes gazed at the decorations in the garden. Streamers of gold and silver lined the flower bushes. Lanterns were hung scattered about. A live band was even set in one corner to provide music.

"We welcome the shadow night pack, and the scarlet Pack. Let the festival begin!."

The crowd answered with a resounding shouts as the live band started their music. Everyone including myself split into separate ways.  I stayed in the sidelines not daring to go into the thick of the crowd.  I had an hour until the moon rose when the guys would loose hold on themselves.  I spotted Cole and Kira kissing under a nearby willow tree. They were really meant for each other it was plain to see.
