"I see you're fraternizing with the enemy."  Exeter sneered. My heart beat rapidly in my chest. This was not good. He saw us together. The question was how much did he see?.

"Well he's much better than you'll ever be."

He put a hand to his chest fanning mock hurt. I couldn't help but notice the smeared red lipstick on his cheeks. I smirked whoever was dumb enough to fall for him had issues.

"You don't know what you're missing" He crept closer backing me up against the wall. I scanned the surrounding area looking for anyone who was witnessing this. But they were all to captivated by the music to take notice.  Exeter shot his arms out grabbing my shoulders holding me firm.

I started to protest as he shoved his body against mine. But was quickly shut down by his mouth against mine. His tongue danced in my mouth like a vile snake. I struggled against him. Pain burst on my shoulder where he gripped so tight his nails dug into my skin.I felt like I was being plunged into icy water. This was not happening. I felt his tongue slide along where my teeth were. Bad mistake. As hard as I could manage I bit down as hard as I could on his tongue.

He gave a yelp of surprise, followed shortly by a curse as he tried to pull away. I held his tongue clamped down between my teeth. I could taste the cooper of the blood in my mouth. I quickly released his tongue as he backed a few steps away from me. I felt triumphant as he reached his hand up to touch his tongue and having it come away red.

He started to shake his head. A vein was visible against his temple. My short lived accomplishment was shot down as he stalked toward me his hand raised.

"You stupid bitch!," I heard the slap first before feeling white hot pain across my cheek. Holding my cheek I looked at him head on. I could feel a strange new emotion swirling through me begging for release.  It was as if something took over my body, possessing it. I watched like I was on the sidelines. My hand with the mark shot out in front of me palm first. Exeter still seethed but now a wariness lined his face.

He should be terrified, I thought. I was a force to be reckoned with. Not someone he can push around to attend to his every whim. Tonight I was the earth itself; The moon, stars, and even the far away mountains. A deep power reverberated through me. Suddenly a blinding light shot out of my hand hitting Exeter square in the chest. He was blown off his feet and sent flying a few yards off landing hard on his back.

The high suddenly left me, leaving me drained. My feet underneath me felt shaky like I would blow over at the slightest wind gust. Looking down at my open palms I stared blankly at them. What had I done?. A silent hush fell over the garden. Even the musicians stopped there music. I didn't dare to look up afraid of what I would see etched on everyone's faces.

Whatever just happened was not me. It was like some ancient force over took my body. Whispers broke out among the crowd. At first they were hushed. Gradually they turned louder and more frantic. I squeezed my eyes shut trying to ignore the accusations thrown my way.

"A witch!"

"Traitor!"

It felt like I was being squeezed through a tube getting harder and harder to breath. Of course they'd accuse me. Some still heavily believed in the clan religion. Once a woman in the northern clan gave birth to a child who was born with supernatural abilities. He caused ultimate chaos among all clans. His name was Valric.

Before I even knew what was happening, a hand grabbed mine half dragging me back into the safety of the house. Once inside my eyes had to adjust from the dark of the night, to the bright light shinning above the foyer.
