"You" I stuttered out all the while staring at him. He seemed taken aback at my tone of familiarity. I saw recognition dawn in his eyes.
"I do believe we know each other. What's your name?" He asked smirking.
"Lainey, whats your's?"
"Jared" He replied with serenity. A smile grew on his face. I was filled with astonishment. Here I was at a nightclub, sitting across from my mate who happened to be my enemy.
"I'm sorry...but I have to go this is wrong." I stood up to go, but Jared grabbed my arm. Tingles shot through my body.
"Let go of me," I hissed through my teeth. I resisted the urge to look at him. It was hard enough to walk away from him. I didn't know it was this hard to resist your mate. But I held my beliefs, I didn't want a mate. If I looked at him I knew I wouldn't be able to resist it. His touch on my arm was like fire. The clubs music was so loud I could feel the vibrations deep inside of my chest.
"'Please" I whispered barley enough for him to hear. He spun me around to face him. I noticed scruff on his face that I didn't know was there before. He leaned his face in close to me. His hot breaths stirring my stray hairs.
"Meet me on the territory's edge tomorrow night." He whispered in my ear. Jared spun me back around letting go of my arm. I stumbled a few steps to balance myself. I turned around to see if he was still there. But I was met with a empty chair where he used to be. I took a deep breath to steady my breathing.
I needed to get out of this club. I turned back around facing the dancing bodies. I searched them trying to find kira in their midst. I could here my own heart pounding in my ears. I curled my hands into fists trying to calm their shaking.
Finally I found her talking to some guy near the edge of the dancing bodies. The guy was completely bald, wearing tight skinny jeans, and a leather jacket. I rolled my eyes at him, typical biker guy thinking he can pick up any girl.
As I got closer to them I realized he was drunk.
"Come on baby, lets get out of here" He slurred Grabbing Kira on her arm. I rushed forward, Put all my power into it and shoved him away from her.
"Get your filthy hands off her!" I yelled angrily. I looked over at Kira standing there, her arms wrapped around herself. She looked alright physically. I whipped my head back around at the biker dude. He had staggered a few steps from his drunkenness. A small sinister smile crept onto his face. Fear gripped my insides, But I stood their holding my ground. He swiped his mouth with the back of his hand. His hands seemed to be twitching with anger.
"Your going to pay for that little girl." He said menacingly. He jumped into action immediately. Running full speed at me, Fists raised. I ducked away just in time to be nearly hit on the side of the face. I wasn't so lucky the next time. His fist knocked into my jaw, I was thrown to the ground getting knocked off balance. I tried to scramble back to my feet again, but black dots swam in my vision, and a wave of dizziness passed over me.
I pushed myself too my feet, only to get pulled down again. The guy had my hair in his fist. I hissed in pain. Kira ran forward to try and help me. But the guy just pushed her aside like a rag-doll. Letting go of my hair, he wrapped his meaty hands around my neck. I clawed at his hands with my own trying to get him to release me. I gasped for air but couldn't get any. He was going to strangle me to death. My lungs burned, and black lined the edges of my vision.
Something barreled into the guy causing him to release me. I sank to floor gasping for breath. My lungs expanding with the sweet air. The black finally receded from my vision. When I felt like I was stable enough I stood. My eyes widened in amazement at what I saw.
Jared was in an all out brawl with the biker guy. From what I could tell Jared was winning. He had the guy on the ground, and continuously kicked him. I looked around too see if anyone was watching, To my utter surprise nobody even batted an eye. They probably were all too drunk to care anyway.
Turning my attention back to Jared, I noticed he had a black eye forming. The biker guy on the ground had his arms over his face, grunting every time Jared kicked him. Jared then picked up the guy from his shirt collar.
"Ever touch her again, and I wont hesitate to kill you." Jared warned before shoving the biker guy on the ground. Once on the ground the guy scrambled to his feet and ran out of the club. Kira ran to my side immediately checking me over for injuries.
"Oh my god are you okay?," she said shakily, "This is all my fault i'm so sorry." Her hazel eye's were full of concern, and regret.
"I'm okay really." I smiled at her trying to be convincing. She blew out a string of air before putting on a half smile.
"You sure as hell aren't okay" I jumped at the voice from behind me. I spun around and came face to face with Jared. His face filled with relief and anger.
"Yes I am" I argued with him. His left eye twitched in annoyance before sighing.
"Fine, but If i hadn't been here in time you would probably be dead or in the hospital."
"I didn't ask for you to save me." I countered him. Rising tension began to twirl around us in the air. Probably noticing it, Kira stepped in between us. I hadn't realized we were standing so close almost nose to nose.
"First of all what Lainey was trying to say was thank you, second of all who are you?." Kira questioned with a raised eyebrow.
"Jared, Laineys love interest, in fact she's head over heels for me." Jared said winking at me. My insides churned with anger, but the other half of me wanted to kiss him then and there. Boy did I hate him as my mate. I never wanted a mate but here I am with the worst of them all. A arrogant, soon to be alpha of our rival pack.
"Well I should be going. Good night ladies." He said turning to leave. But remembering something he opened his mouth.
"Remember about tomorrow night." Then with that he turned around and walked right out of the club.
"Eeek! you too would be so cute together." Kira screeched. I just nodded my head at her, not paying attention. The image of him still floating in my mind.
