Hello again guys. I can't stop my little fingers at the minute and I'm going to make the most of it. I'm going to skip time a bit in this chapter but I'll explain all in a flashback me thinks. Anyways here's the chapter.
*Danny*
I watched Jessie sleeping on the bed. It has been 3 months since I came home. Things have gotten a little easier. She's going for another scan today. The bump is showing a little but I don't think she likes it. The normal pregnancy symptoms have welcomed themselves, like the morning sickness and the tiredness.
Her parents are behind her 100%. We told them after her first scan.
-
"Are you nervous?" I asked her as I lifted my hand from the steering wheel and placed it on her hands which were clasped together tightly.
"Very," she breathed.
"I'm here baby," I assured her.
"I know," she replied.
We got to her parents house a few minutes later and her mum and dad were happy to see her. Her dad immediately jumped into questions about why she hadn't been answering her phone. Of course I tried to calm him a little. He grew suspicious at this. It was hard for Jessie to explain what had happened to her mum and her Stephen was furious. He was annoyed why she hadn't told him about the first time but once she informed them she was pregnant he forgot all about the first secret and after shedding a few tears he left for a walk.
"Do you think he hates me?" Jess asked Rose and I, more tears streaming down her face.
"Not at all darling, he's just hurt, shocked and angry. He needs time," Rose said. "How could he hate you, it's not your fault." I rubbed her shoulder.
When her dad came back he knew what he was going to say. He told her how proud he was, he told her she was strong and he thanked me for being there for her. That made me feel better. I knew he approved of me before but now at least he knew I would do nothing to hurt a single hair on her head.
-
We had told my mum too. She was heartbroken for Jessie.
Today we had her 2nd scan. We would be finding out the sex of the baby. I went to the kitchen and made her toast, egg and beans. Beans were her craving. She ate them with everything. One night last week we were watching a movie and I asked her if she wanted popcorn. Turns out she wanted a bowl of beans. It made me laugh thinking about it. Jessie came out of the bedroom just then.
"I smell beans," she smiled.
"Right here," I grinned back setting the plate on the table before sitting down opposite her.
She warmed to some parts of the pregnancy, like the food and the sleep. She also enjoyed lounging about the house with me. That was one of my favourites too. Although she didn't like to think about the fact the child wasn't mine.
"I'll be ready in about 30 minutes," she told me before she went to the bathroom.
I went to the bedroom and pulled on some skinny jeans and a check shirt. I had just pushed my hair into a gelled mess as Jessie came out of the bathroom. She wore leggings and a grey floaty top. She always looked hot, even if she just wore sweats.
"Gimme that over," she asked, referring to my gel. I lifted the gel and walked around to give her it and hugged her from behind, resting my head on her shoulder.
"You always smell so good," I commented as I inhaled against her neck.
"You don't smell half bad yourself," Jessie half smiled, her short hair now in a perfect quiff. I knew she was starting to get nervous. She always did when the was something to do with the baby.
"Ready to go?" I sighed.
"As I'll ever be," she replied.
We got to the hospital 15 minutes later. We were called in straight away. The nurses understood our wishes to keep the baby a secret from the press for now. The liquid gel was squirted onto the abdomen and she jumped a little.
"Sorry," the nurse apologised before placing the probe onto the gel. Immediately we heard the baby's heartbeat. I don't know why but I breathed a sigh of releif at that.
"Do you want to see the baby?" The nurse asked. Jessie nodded. The nurse turned the screen around and pointed out different facial features, the nose, the eyes and the mouth. The resemblance to Jessie was clear to see, even to a fool. It warmed my heart.
"Jess, it looks just like you," I smiled. She let out a little puff of air.
"Do you want to know the sex?" The nurse asked.
"Yes," I said quickly.
"Jessie?" The nurse asked.
"Yeah," she mumbled.
"Its a boy," the nurse revealed.
I smiled and I seen Jessie have a small smile to herself. The nurse printed 4 pictures and allowed Jessie to wipe the gel. Then we made our way home. When we got in it was 4 o'clock. I couldn't stop thinking about how cute the baby looked.
"What are you smiling about?" Jessie asked after returning in sweats.
"Nothing," I shrugged, not wanting her to know that I was thinking about the baby.
"Tell me Danny," Jess urged.
"It's nothing," I lied, placing my hand on her cheek, stroking below her eye.
"You were thinking about it again weren't you. You think about it a lot," she said in a neutral tone, taking the envelope of scan photo's off the bench.
"How do you know?" I asked, surprised she knew.
"Because you always look distant when your thinking about it," she shrugged. "What were you thinking?"
"I just have a feeling that maybe... we should keep it," I confessed carefully. Jessie's face cast no emotion.
"But it's not yours, Danny. How can you want it?" she asked, her eyes growing wet at the thought.
"Babe, that doesn't matter," I admitted pulling her closer so the small bump was touching my waist. "It's not that I don't care baby, I would have loved it to be mine but its a part of you. Its someone who is made up of you. He looks just like you," I confessed pulling a picture out of the envelope. "I have this feeling in my gut that we should keep him. If we gave him away it would be like me giving part of you away."
"But what about the other part? The part of him - the part of Jake," she spat his name in pain. "It will always be there."
"The part of you will outshine any of him," I told her honestly.
"You really want to keep it?" Jessie asked
"Yes, but only if your comfortable with that," I replied looking straight into her eyes.
"Do you think I'll be able to do it though?" she questioned, genuinely scared of my answer
"Jessie, I'll think you'll be an amazing mum to him."
"What about you? Will you be a good dad?" she wondered with a small smile.
"I will do my utmost best," I smiled, kissing her on the lips, lovingly for the first time in over 5 months, placing my right had on her stomach. On our son.
Hey guys. So this chapter is a little happier. Jessie is coming around to the baby now a little bit, especially since she knows that Danny's going to be there with her, acting the father that the little boy deserves. Its now I need a few fillers. The pregnancy can't just be two chapters. Fill me in on how you liked the story below and any suggestions can go down there too. Thanks for reading guys :) x
