Old Friends, New Feelings

Anakin, still in awe over seeing her, his one time love, the woman he thought he had killed; alive and well; and looking none the worse for the wear; finally broke the barrier he had erected to contain his whirling emotions. He strode to the front of the queue of Jedi, and knelt on a knee, tears beginning to flow down his face.
"Can you.... Can you ever forgive me Serra ? After all I have done, can you forgive me ?"

He was stunted into a stupor as she laughed. He looked up, to find that she wore the same familiar devious grin as always. He felt empty inside for a moment, as he saw her kneel in front of him and put her hands on his shoulders, look him dead in the eyes, and said
"There is nothing to forgive. It was the will of the Force for the Jedi to change. If that meant that we had to be reduced to nothing to do so; so be it. You merely carried out the will of the Force. What you did was unspeakably wrong, but rest knowing that you did what was needed for the Order to survive. Now; stand to your feet, and lead us Jedi Skywalker."

Anakin knelt, in a stupor; processing what his reacquainted friend had just said. That one could be so understanding. So forgiving. It was like her. He had done the unthinkable to her, and yet, here was one who thought just like her, and who was, if possible, even more alluring than her. He did not deserve this. None of it. Not life, not Serra, not a second chance, nothing. Suddenly, he was shocked out of his suicidal thoughts as Serra leant forward and pulled him toward him, embracing him in a deep, passionate kiss.

It was as if his heart had started beating again. This, this was something to live for. To do for Serra what he could not do for her. No. Not her. Padmè. To have another chance to restore the Jedi. This was worth living for. He vowed then to not rest until he had made known to Serra the extent of his feelings for her, and had at the least, set the Jedi well on the way to being rebuilt. The first would have to wait until they had a bit more privacy. The second though, he could carry on with doing right now.
