Chapter 2

The Team

The next day, Sapphire, Speria, Liam, Shathril and Tom went to look for jobs while Thrivil and Ferrwrath went to the field to wait for the army.  The rest of the team remained under Mishai's command and stayed at the Headquarters to train.

Sapphire, Speria, Liam, Shathril and Tom had found a couple of jobs in cafés or in shops that were looking for waiters or counsellors.  Seeing as the team needed money to buy food for tonight, they had to find a job that would give them some money on the spot, rendering the acceptance of the jobs at cafés or shops impossible.

After a few hours of wandering the town, Shathril had an idea.

"What if, while you three, Sapphire, Liam and Speria apply for the jobs in the cafés, Tom and I could do a show or something, just outside in the main square?" he offered " That way, while we're waiting for all of your pay checks, we could earn some money and at least earn a bit to get some food so that we don't starve to death."

"Well... It is a good idea but..." said Sapphire, who was a bit reluctant to see warriors, especially warriors as good as they were, become circus clowns.

"I know what you're thinking boss but...it's the only solution we have for now." replied Speria, in a comforting voice.

Reluctantly, Sapphire accepted.

At the same moment, Thrivil and Ferrwrath were waiting in the field.  It was almost 1:00 pm and the army still hadn't arrived.  It was only towards 1:50 pm that the first soldiers came through a portal.  Thrivil had put up an invisibility perimeter around the field in order to hide this unusual arrival and in order to protect their team from being discovered and killed by the humans.  He knew that he would eventually have to contact Earths governments to warn the of the impending danger and to explain how he and his army would help protect the planet, but for now, he preferred to protect his army.

"This is going to be interesting..." sighed Thrivil as he saw his enormous army pour into the open field.  

He would have to break this army down into sections before the fight began: it would be easier to manage during the fight and the twins alone could not lead this army in addition to their team.  

Thrivil had also requested that a few hundred medical warriors be sent to him so that Karo and his apprentice Kimash wouldn't be submerged by the amount of wounded during the fight.  Ferrwrath was standing beside him, slightly nervous, as they watched the army now flood into the field. 

As soon as the entire army had crammed into the field, Thrivil quickly summarized the situation.

"Good afternoon and welcome to Earth.  My name is Thrivil and I am one of the leading officers of the team and the operation.  I know that this is a first time for all of you and that you must be confused as to your surroundings.  I must inform you that we are surrounded behind an invisibility shield that my colleague Ferrwrath and I have put up.  This is a security measure to protect this army and to prevent any of you from being taken hostage by the species inhabiting this planet who are not accustomed to seeing beings like us.  The dominant species inhabiting this planet is called human.  They have no special powers like us, are not able to transform like some of us and are not able to communicate by telepathy nor use magic like us.  Their history shows, that they have an immense fear of what is unknown to them, of what is different to them and of what they cannot control.  Therefore I urge you to not leave the security perimeter.  We will lift the invisibility shield once the leading powers have been informed of our presence and of our intentions.  In addition to this invisibility shield, we have also put in place, a sound eliminating shield that is also in the same perimeter as the shield.
