Chapter 8

Sapphire

The next day, Sapphire continued to train Ava.  Sapphire trained Ava as hard as she could since she had a lot to catch up on.  Sapphire trained Ava 4 hours in the morning and 5 hours in the afternoon.  Ava was progressing rapidly.

"At least if the Shahils were to attack now, she would be ready." thought Sapphire to herself.

Sapphire had Ava practicing her sword and archery in a simulation in which Shahil telegrams charged towards her from every direction.  Ava's goal was to avoid getting hit by the Shahil telegrams.

In addition to practicing in the simulation, Sapphire made Ava practice fight against herself so that Ava could get the feel of a real sword fight.  The simulation felt real but it wasn't as real as practicing with another living being.

In the middle of their practice, Sapphire got a message from Tom.

"Boss? I need to report something urgent."

"What is it?" replied Sapphire

"I don't know if the others have said anything to you but, I felt a sort of energy shift.  You know, like the feeling you have when someone you're close to goes through the portal?" Tom explained.

Sapphire sighed.  She too had been feeling something strange over the past few hours.

"How long have you felt this?"

"I've been feeling it for about three or four hours."

"I have been feeling the same thing." replied Sapphire.  "I'll contact the others."

"No problem boss."

"What happened?" asked Ava

"It was Tom.  He confirmed something that I felt earlier.  The Shahils will soon be here.  Take a break: I need to contact the others." said Sapphire solemnly

They both rushed back to Headquarters.  Once they got there Sapphire initiated a group video call, telling them it was urgent.

"What's wrong?" asked Shathril

"Have any of you sensed anything...odd today?  Something like a shift of energy?"

Everyone went silent.   They all knew that if they sensed something like that, it would mean that the Shahils would soon attack.

"Tom contacted me not even five minutes ago five minutes ago to tell me that he had sensed something.  I too, have sensed this.  Now I am asking the rest of you, have you sensed this?" said Sapphire with a stern voice.

After a few minutes of the heavy silence Sparky spoke up.

"I have also felt this."

"When?" asked Sapphire

"Just before you called."

"Anyone else?" asked Saphire

"Me too sister." said Thrivil

"When?"

"At around 3:00 pm"

"Exactly when I had felt it. You of all people should have said something.  Tom was the first one out of you three to have contacted me as soon as he sensed it."  bitterly replied  Sapphire

"At least they told you now.  Has anyone else felt anything?" said Shathril, trying to calm the tension.

The rest of the warriors shook their head.

"This means that we still have time." said Tom "If only four of us have sensed something, that means that it's only the beginning.  We should double our trainings."

"Agreed" said Ferrwrath

"Stay alert everyone." concluded Sapphire

The other warriors left the call one after the other until only Spaphire and Ava, Thrivil, Tom and Sparky were left.

"Next time, tell me as soon as you sense something.  I can sense when you feel something when we're near each other but not when your thousands of kilometers away." Sapphire told Thrivil

"Yes sister."

After Thrivil left, only Tom was left in the video call.

"Thanks Tom.  After all of this, I should promote you to team counsellor. You have a way of reassuring everyone that neither Thrivil nor I have." said Sapphire

"It would be an honor boss." said Tom, bowing

"The honor is be mine." said Sapphire

After Tom left, Sapphire closed the call and turned to Ava.

"I need to start planning.  Keep on training in the simulator" Sapphire told Ava

"Tell me if you need anything." said Ava.

Sapphire then went to her office to see where the different sections were and how they could be efficient during the battle.  Thrivil's section had placed some warriors to the south of America in order to prevent any Shahils from attacking Mexico from America, but they could do nothing if they were attacked from within the country.

The war was coming.
