The Team

Once the battle at the Academy was over, only ten more Trainees and fifteen more teachers had perished.  Thrivil had found the General severely wounded.  Thrivil ran over to him, calling over a medical team.  As the medical team was trying to heal the General, the latter called to the twins.

"I suppose you and Sapphire sensed that the Supreme Commander never liked you too much?" he asked with a rasping voice.

At the sound of his sister's name, Thrivil  cringed.

"Yes, we did." answered Thrivil "But Sapphire is dead."

"I'm so sorry....Thrivil.. I want you two to know that ever since you were accepted at the academy, I saw greatness in you both.  That is why-" suddenly, the General was cut off by a cough.

"You need to rest and let the medical team heal you!" said Thrivil

"My wounds are too deep, they won't be able to do anything." rasped the General  "I was saying that.... I name you both... Supreme Commanders of the Army." said the General.

Thrivil remained shocked at what the General had just told them.

"But sir.." began Thrivil

"No Thrivil.. You both have earned it.  At Sapphire's funeral, give her the honors."

Those were the Generals last words.

Thrivil sat there utterly surprised: he had just been promoted to Supreme Commanders.

That's when Sparky received a transmition from Karo; he was sobbing.

"What is it Karo?" Sparky asked worried.

"Tell the boss...... Tom.... Tom is dead.  We couldn't stop the blood coming out from his eyes." Karo sobbed

Thrivil was shocked to hear this.

"Come on... Let's go back." said Thrivil after a few minutes

After leaving the teachers in charge, the team hurried back to Earth.

Thrivil ran to the operating tent where Tom was.  There they met Karo who was in tears.  As soon as he was the rest of the team, he rushed over to them, now uncontrollably crying.

One of the medical warriors approached the team, his face covered with sadness.

"I'm sorry for your loss... We did everything we could to save him but he lost too much blood due to his numerous wounds..."

This time, Thrivil started crying again. "How could this be?" he thought. Each and every other member of the team had tears streaming down their face and some were shaking as they tried to contain their sobs.
