Legolas gasped and let out a very loud scream that would definately run anyone's blood cold.

He looked down at the arrow in his shoulder, his shirt was wet in blood. Never again in his life had he felt so much pain. Maybe because he had never gotten so much injured before.

He felt his chest going numb and he fell to his knees. All of a sudden, about 20 orcs came out of the trees.

Legolas then remebered that he had a small dagger hidden in his right boot. He quickly took it and threw it to an orc that was closest to him. He used all of his strength to get up and, when he did so, he retrieved the dagger.

He started feeling dizzy and his breath growing heavier as he saw all the orcs heading towards him.

Before he could react, Aragorn and Gimli came from nowhere and started killing as many orcs as they could.

Legolas did as much as he could do, which was only stabbing whichever orc approached him.

The pain in his shoulder was unbearable and he was sure that he would collapse to the ground at any moment.

He watched as his friends slaughtered all the orcs. For the first time in his life he had felt so useless, very useless.

When Aragorn killed the last orc, Legolas felt the dizziness increasing and his world spinning around. With another gasp he collapsed to the ground.

"Legolas!!!" Aragorn shouted and rushed to his friend's side. Gimli was frozen; he was responsible for this. Guilt was written on his face and he slowly made his way to where Legolas laid.

Legolas was coughing and gasping for air.
"Don't let go Legolas, you will be alright, I will heal you." Aragorn told his struggling friend and tried to calm him.

He moved his hand on the arrow and tried to put it out. Legolas let out another loud scream and groaned as the arrow was removed.

Then, more blood spilled out of the wound and Legolas let out a cry of agony.

"Gimli, bring my backpack and some water." Aragorn told Gimli who immediatelly rushed to their small camp.

Aragorn removed Legolas' shirt, got out a cloth from his pocket and pressed it on Legolas' wound.

Legolas moaned as the cloth was being pressed on his wound and another wave of pain crossed his chest. He felt the wave of exhaustion claiming him.

He started closing his eyes when Aragorn shook him "Please Legolas, don't give in. Be strong. Be strong for Tauriel.". As Legolas heard her name, he did his best best to fight against the exhaustion.

Gimli showed up running, carrying a bowl with water and Aragorn's backpack.

Aragorn took the bowl and spilled it in the wound.

Legolas shivered as the cold water sank into his wound.

Then, Aragorn took some herbs, mixed them and pressed them on the wound. "You are lucky my friend; the arrow was not poisoned. You will heal quickly, as you are an elf. But you won't run any more till you heal completely, ok? Now, rest as much as you can, you will need your strength for tomorrow." Aragorn replied.

He washed off the sweat on the elf's face, bandaged his wound and let him rest.

Legolas fell asleep at once, but he kept breathing heavily.

"How is he?" Gimli asked worried.

"He will be alright, he isn't poisoned."

"I am responsible for it. If I had not been asking, him since he didn't want me to, none of this would have happened-"

"Don't blame yourself, Gimli. He is very worried-"

"Tell me what's going on." Gimli cut him off and Aragorn told him everything that Legolas had told. When he finished, Gimli lowered his head in pity for his friend.

"Oh my... He must love her greatly to do all those things for her. I shouldn't have gone so far-"

"Just let it go. Whatever happened belongs to the past now. I assure you that he will forgive you. Now, let's get some rest, it will be dawn in about two hours."

"I think we should let Legolas rest more and start walking when he is awake." Gimli suggested.

"Okay, you are right. However, I think that we will probably have to wake him up for I don't know if he is having a great time resting." Aragorn sighed and pointed at Legolas who was turning his head from side to side; he was having nightmares.

Gimli nodded and both slept. Aragorn woke up from time to time to see if Legolas was alright.

When the sun started rising, Aragorn and Gimli woke up.

Gimli took a look on Legolas; he was clenching and unclenching his fists, he was out of breath and his whole body was wet in sweat.

Aragorn could see that the elf was suffering from both his wound and his nightmares.

"Gimli, I think we should wake him up. He has been suffering a lot from those nightmares."

"Okay then, do it." Gimli answered.

Then Aragorn gently shook his friend's shoulder "Legolas mellon nin, wake up. Get out of those nightmares." he whispered to Legolas' ear.

A few minutes passed before Legolas slowly opened his eyes. He then moaned as the pain of his wound overwhelmed him again.

"How are you feeling mellon?" asked Aragorn.

"Uh, I think better than yesterday. But I didn't sleep well. Though, thanks for waking me up. You did good to me." Legolas replied and smiled weakly.

Aragorn touched Legolas' forehead; he had a someway high fever.

"Ah, you have a fever. Are you sure that you want to continue our journey today?" Aragorn asked worried.

"Aye, I will do it. My adar told me to hurry and I will do so. Her life is in my hands." Legolas answered and slowly sat up.

Gimli gathered their belongings and helped Legolas to stand up.

"I am very sorry about what happened to you lad. I was wrong to go so far, I-"

"Don't worry Gimli. It wasn't your fault, I forgive you. I was wrong to go mad at you." Legolas replied and Gimli gave him a nod.

"Aragorn told me everything about you and Tauriel." Gimli replied and Legolas blushed.

"Don't worry, it is ok. Everything is going to be alright." Gimli assured Legolas and tapped his shoulder.

Afterwards, Aragorn gave Legolas a herb tea for his fever. Once Legolas drank it, they started walking again.

Aragorn was holding Legolas so that he didn't collapse as he could see how much pain was Legolas going through. For that reason, he tried to walk slowly.

The fever seemed to be easing the whole day, but Legolas was still weak.

Two more days passed and Legolas was still very weak, even if the fever was gone.

Every night he would have nightmares about Tauriel being tortured and then dying and him not being able to help her.

This night was cold and, even if he was an elf, Legolas was freezing. He was trembling and his wound opened again.

Aragorn tried his best to stop the bleeding, but the cold made it worst.

He bandaged the wound after the bleeding had eased and gave Legolas his cloak as the elf had been shirtless all those days.

After an hour, Legolas managed to drift into a dreamless sleep.

"Be strong my friend. You will be back home in two days. Be strong for Tauriel. She needs you." Aragorn whispered to Legolas' ear and drifted into a peaceful sleep.
