Chapter Ten

The crowd woo-ed and cheered, but I was frozen off stage, I wouldn’t move.The music to Angel started up and Cody was looking over at me and waving me to come onstage. The big backstage man told me to go, but I just looked up at him with big eyes and shook my head. By now Cody was about to get to the chorus, so he started walking my way and winked at the audience and the cameras. Cody pulled me out onstage, hand in hand, and sang the chorus to me. I didn’t look anywhere except Cody’s eyes. Don’t get me wrong, I don’t have stage fright usually, but this is an audience of millions.

“Just think of this as one of our dance parties!” Cody said between singing and smiled at me. He got behind me and took my arm in his hand and made it move side to side, signaling for the audience to do the same. Soon enough the song was over and Cody was thanking the people for having him and wished every body a good night. Then he said “Oh! And give it up for Ellie!” as we walked offstage next to each other while the crowd gave a standing ovation for Cody’s performance. When we got back to Cody’s dressing room and shut the door, I unfroze and broke down. 

“Cody, I’m so sorry! I ruined your night and your performance and everything! I’m the worst friend ever, I’m so sorry...” I said, by now I was talking faster than a NASCAR racer could make a single lap. 

Cody took my face in his hands and just looked me in the eyes until I slowly began to stop talking and calm down. “You might be a terrible friend...” he said jokingly, “but I bet you’d be the best girl friend a guy could ask for.” he smiled and kissed my forehead. 

“Uh... Cody, are you... Are you asking me to be your girl friend??” I said actually confused by what he had just said.

“That depends. Are you saying yes?” Cody did an adorable half smile.

A smile took over me, I jumped onto Cody and hooked my legs around his hips with my hands on the back of his neck. I hugged him for a good minute, then when I pulled away I nodded ‘yes’. Cody kissed me with a smile. When we stopped, I hugged him again. I heard an “ewww!” come from down the hall. It’s speaker was more than one person. Alli, Tyler, Chloe, and Tom were walking towards us. I saw Tyler reach for Chloe’s hand and she gladly gave it to him and smiled. Alli winked at me, I’m guessing she knew Cody’s plan all along and Tom seemed oblivious to everything that wasn’t his Nintendo DS. 

“Oh my gosh! Are you guys finally dating? Cody hasn’t stopped talking to me about if he thinks you like him or whatever. One time he told me that you were in his dream and-” Chloe started.

“HAHAHA CHLOE YOU’RE A GREAT STORY TELLER!” Cody widened his eyes at Chloe to tell her to shut up.

“Um... Okay, but yes, we’re dating!” I said smiling at Cody. Chloe gave me a hug and whispered “youuu likeee himmm” in my ear. 

“You were great on stage Codes, and you too Ellie.” Alli said once she got over to us. Cody thanked her and I made a ‘Are you serious?’ face which made her laugh at me.

“Guys, we can leave now. I’m done with my performance, so wanna go get dinner?” Cody said after we were in his dressing room.

“Tom is going to his friend’s house and I’m going to Madison’s, so you guys go ahead on your double date.” Alli said laughing. She grabbed Tom’s hand and they walked out to Angie and Brad in the audience. As soon as they left I turned to Chloe.

“YOU GUYS ARE DATING? AHHH CHLOE, IM SO HAPPY FOR YOU!” I shouted, attacking Chloe with a hug rocking from side to side. Cody gave Tyler a “congrats mate” while Chloe and I continued our freak out. 

“Okay, so I’m not that hungry, but I am dead tired. So, wanna just go home and do movies and snacks in the living room?” I said grabbing my purse and taking my hair down.

“Yeah, ditto, let’s just go home.” Cody said fake-yawning to be nice to me.

We walked out the back and ICE took us home. We changed into PJs and covered the living room floor in pillows, blankets, and platters/bowls of every food that we had. We sat with Tyler next Chloe, who was next to me and Cody was on my right. We really didn’t care what movie we watched so we popped in Harry Potter 3 (Prisoner of Azkaban). once we got to the part when Professor Lupin turns into a werewolf (the first time), I realized that every one was already asleep. I hate being the only one awake, so I pretended I was at home. I got up and walked up to the guest room. Since heat rises it was unbearably hot upstairs, so I slept in just underwear and a t-shirt. 

After about an hour of peaceful sleep, I heard the door creak open. I rubbed my eyes and opened them a bit. Cody was standing there in his boxers fumbling for the light switch.

“El, you up? I thought you went home or something.” Cody said trying his best to whisper. I looked at his face and he looked kind of hurt that I hadn’t woken him up to come with me, so I waved him over to come sleep next to me. He gladly got in and immediately put his arms around me. We feel asleep about five seconds after that.

That was the best night’s sleep ever.
