*Phil's Pov*

Dan and I slept upstairs so Bobby could sleep in the livingroom to watch over Alex.

"Phil?" Dan muttered from under the blankets.

"Yea, bear?"

He sat up and faced me.

"You haven't called me that in years."

I don't exactly know why I said it. It just felt.. right I guess. I sat up and inched my face towards his.

"You know I love you, right?" I asked him, already knowing the answer.

"Of course. I love you too." He leaned in and gave me a peck on the lips before getting comfortable again under the blankets. Instead of doing the same, I sat there, watching Dan and the rise and fall of his chest as he drifted into sleep. Soon after, I fell under too.

"Guys! Come on, get up!" Bobby yelled through the closed bedroom door.

I lifted Dan's arm from my torso and pushed the blanket off of me.

"What's going on?" I yelled to Bobby downstairs. "Just come out back!" He called out from the kitchen.

I went back into the bedroom to see Dan sat up in bed, rubbing his eyes. "What is it?" He questioned, still bleary eyed.

"Bobby wants us out back, come on." I grabbed Dan's bag off the floor and threw it at him, signalling him to get dressed.

After Dan and I were dressed, we went downstairs and into the livingroom where Alex was still on the couch.

"What's Bobby doing?" Dan asked her, trying his best to fix his bed hair.

"I dunno. I'm stuck. Go see for yourselves." She smiled and waved us into the hall.

We saw Bobby through the glass sliding doors holding a fishing rod, two on the ground behind him.

"It's about time you too got up! Here, take a pole!"

Dan closed the glass behind us and followed me down the porch steps. Bobby threw one of the fishing rods at me and of course, being the clumsy person I am, I didn't even catch it. Dan laughed behind me when I fumbled to catch the awkward, metal thing.

That was nice to hear. Dan's laughter. It used to be the only noise filling our apartment. Now it's as rare as finding a hundred pounds on the street. I never thought I would be so happy to hear Dan Howell laughing. His laughter is one of the few things that keeps me going.

"Sorry about that" Bobby laughed along with Dan. He handed Dan his pole instead of throwing it. You learn from your mistakes I guess.

"I've never been fishing before" I admitted to Bobby.

"That's alright, I'll teach you" he assured me.

~

After a while of sitting on the ground in silence, and a few pieces of my bait stolen, I have given up trying to catch anything. It's obvious the fish were smarter than me and were just going to keep stealing all my bait and getting away with it.

While Dan was focusing on his bobber in the water, I put my fishing rod down and snuck up behind him, causing him to drop his pole and fumble into the lake.

"I hate you!" He yelled to me, thrashing around in the shallow water.

"No you don't!" I yelled back laughing.

Before I knew it, Dan was dragging me down with him, splashing water in my face and dunking me under.

"H-hey!" I managed to stutter, breathless. "That's not fair!"

"Yes it is, you spork!" He laughed and splashed me again.

"Come on, boys! You're gonna scare the fish away!" Bobby sounded angry, but he had a smile wide across his face.

We sat there motionless for a second before Dan splashed Bobby too, causing him to drop his fishing rod and dunk us both under.

"Hey! I-" He dunked me again.

"Didn't.. do.. anything!" I yelled at Bobby when I came back up, struggling to suck the air back into my lungs.

"That's for scaring the fish!" He chuckled as he walked out of the water, grabbing his pole and heading back inside.

Dan intertwined our fingers and pulled me out of the water behind him.

As we made our way to the porch, Bobby came back out with towels which he handed to us once we got up the steps.

"Thanks" Dan mumbled out of breathe.

Bobby smiled as a way of saying "You're welcome" and headed back into the house. After we wrapped ourselves in the towels, Dan sat on the porch swing. He looked up at me and put his arm out for me to sit next to him. I did so and he wrapped it around my shoulder. I rested my head on his shoulder and sighed heavily.

"I love you" he whispered just loud enough for me to hear.

"I know" I said with a cocky tone.

"Shut up!" He punched my arm with his free hand, laughing. "Say it back!"

"Alright, alright!" I returned the laugh. "I love you too, Bear."

He looked down at me smiling and placed a kiss on my cheek.

Without thinking, I began humming a familiar song. I couldn't quite remember what I was humming, but I couldn't get it out of my head.

"Final Fantasy" Dan finally said. "Interrupted by fireworks."

"I knew it was Final Fantasy!" I laughed.

"Philip Michael Lester, you forgot our song!" I lifted my head from Dan's shoulder and looked into his deep brown eyes.

"I love you?" I stated, although it sounded more like a question.

"Yea, ok you little shit!" There it is again. His beautiful laugh. God I love hearing Dan laugh. Now that I think about it, the whole morning has been nothing but laughter.

Why do we have to leave, anyway? We seem safe here. We can be happy just living in this house, by this lake for the rest of our lives. We don't need to make supply runs. We can eat the fish from the lake, and boil lake water so it's sterilized. We don't have to lose anybody.

We don't have to lose eachother.
