*Phil's Pov*

"What the fuck is happening?" Dan asked in a serious tone. I didn't answer, as I had no idea myself. I had just ended my liveshow when the sirens started. Everyone was talking about that zombie virus thing in the chat throughout the whole liveshow, but I ignored all of them. I didn't want to talk about something I knew nothing about.

I looked into Dan's chocolate brown eyes staring back at mine. Without saying anything, we both leaned in and hugged eachother tight. His arms wrapped around my shoulders as mine rested on his hips. We stood there for a minute, listening to the roar of helicopters and screams of sirens surrounding us. I was so close to crying, I could feel the hot tears welling up in my eyes, but I didn't let them spill. Is this actually happening? Is this really a zombie apocalypse? I just don't understand how it could be real. How could something so unrealistic and scientifically impossible actually happen?

BANG BANG

Dan and I jumped out of each others arms at the sound of gunfire outside. I could hear Dan's breathing quicken, but I attempted to keep mine under control and stay calm. One of us has to. He grabbed my hand and squeezed it tight. I looked at him and gave him a quick peck on the lips before I let his hand go and made my way to my bedroom. Dan sniffled and followed quickly behind.

"What are you doing?" He asked, wiping his face before he let any tears fall.

"We need to go. We have to get out of the city." I didn't look at him as I spoke.

"What? We don't even know what this thing is!" He started to yell out of fear. "Yes, we do!" I yelled back, unintentionally. I turned around and looked him in the eyes again. "Look," I started, walking behind Dan to turn off the screeching Tv. "Even if it's not that, it's still bad. Really bad. So we need to get out of the city, away from everyone. We have to be safe." I spoke quieter this time, trying to soothe Dan, but he could barely hear me over the sirens and helicopters approaching.

He didn't respond, so I continued packing. I assume he did the same since he left my room and slammed the door to his. I know he isn't mad at me, he's mad at the situation, at what's happening. He's scared. He always does this when he get's scared. I honestly have no clue how I'm not on the floor in tears right now. My entire world is crumbling down right in front of me. I can tell this virus, if it isn't a zombie virus, is going to do damage. Alot of damage. Nothing is going to be the same when it's over. If it is going to be over at some point. I just can't believe this is actually happening. But it's right in front of me, right outside that window. I can see it, but I still can't believe it. I don't want to believe.

I tried to quiet my mind as I packed, pushing my thoughts to the back corner of my mind. I packed only two pairs of black pants, and two random shirts that I didn't even look at before I shoved them into my galaxy backpack. I grabbed a few other things I needed from my drawers then ran out my bedroom door and into the kitchen. I opened the cabinet and grabbed anything that was in a can as well as a few bottles of water. Everything else would go bad within a few days.

"Dan!" I called out, hoping he was ready to leave. Without yelling back, he ran out into the hall with a backpack on his shoulder as well. It was the one he uses for some of the characters in his videos.

"Ready?" He asked me, eyes puffy. He had been crying. I grabbed him and pulled him in for a hug. I squeezed him tight and he squeezed me back. "Yea," I mumbled into his shoulder "I'm ready." We stayed like that for a minute, completely still. I was scared to go out that front door. It felt safe in Dan's arms, and I never wanted to leave.

That was when we heard glass shattering and people screaming. I slowly let go of Dan and made my way to the window. There was a fire in the building across from us and there were people running around like chickens with their heads cut off. I looked to the right and saw only one person walking slowly, everyone running away from him. My eyes were fixed onto his slump form. The way he walked was weird, like he had just gotten out of bed in the middle of the night. "Get away!" I heard a mother scream, clutching her child in her arms. She was on the ground, holding a small toddler tight to her chest.

BANG BANG BANG

With that, Dan came running to my side. the man who was walking strangely had been shot. I'm not sure by who, I couldn't see, but I could see him fall to the ground.

Someone just murdered him

I though to myself. Before I let any more thoughts consume me, he got back up. "Oh my god" Dan muttered behind me, grabbing my hand. Luckily, the mother and child managed to run away. I watched as she struggled to carry her child through the mob of people. Now I really don't want to go out there.

"We have to" Dan said, as if he had read my mind. "We have to go. Like you said, we have to get out of the city, away from people. It's the only way we'll be safe." He paused and turned me away from the window so that I looked him in the eyes.

"We can get through this" he assured me. "We have eachother. I won't leave you. I'll always be right here, right by your side. You'll always have me, until the end."

I stood there, staring at him for a moment, studying his features I have already memorized millions of times before.

Until the end. I repeated his words over in my head. Until the end.
