Hello, just a quick little author's note. Thank you all for being patient. English class has been hella busy, and annotating is just plain annoying. I'm sorry for wasting your time, on with the story:

- Iris -

The voice whispered my name again. I looked around before staring into the water. When I stared into it, something jumped out and grabbed me, dragging me into the pond. Out of my mouth came a muffled scream as the thing pulled me deeper into the water. Soon enough, I couldn't breathe, and I began to choke on the water. One more muffled scream, and my mind blanked out.

- Jack -

I was flying back from work at North's while thinking about Iris. It was extremely annoying since I was always thinking of her, but she was always on my mind. Soon, my mind began to wander.

What was she doing right now? Man, I really wish I was at the house. I just wanted to cuddle with her and lie in bed with her all day. I wanted to make her laugh or just make her smile, but she was a tough one. Usually, I ended up making her mad, but I could smooth it over by making small gestures of love. Maybe I could get something for her.

I flew back to the house and entered the house to hear glass being smashed. Rushing into the kitchen, I saw Percy and Danny shouting at each other. Well, I couldn't blame them, Danny's bright, orange hair was spiked up, and everything was pointing to Percy.

"Guys! I hate to break up your argument, but I need to find Iris. Do you know where she is?" I shouted.

"Well, she said she wanted to go out because she needed some girl friends. I think she went to the coffee shop that she loves." Percy answered before tossing an egg at Danny and running. I gave an awkward nod and walked to the front door again. After flying to the coffee shop, I landed and walked in.

"Mason, do you know where Iris is?" I asked.

"Yeah, she said she was going to the lake." Mason answered while making a coffee. This was like a wild goose chase. I groaned before flying off to the lake. As I was walking around the lake, I was looking around for Iris but there was no luck.

"Iris!?" I called out. There was a muffled scream from somewhere, but I couldn't identify where.

"Iris?" I looked around. There was no answer. My feet pushed off the ground as I flew around, checking every nook and cranny. I sighed when I couldn't find her.

"Jack!" There was a muffled scream. It was Iris, I could tell. My eyes scanned the perimeter before settling on the lake. When I peered over the edge, I saw Iris floating in the ocean.

"Iris!" I exclaimed. She was unconscious.

Who could've taken her down there? Why was she in the lake?

I took a deep breath before plunging into the water. My calls were muffled, and I probably shouldn't be talking underwater, but I couldn't see Iris anymore.

"Jack!" Another muffled scream came. My head whipped around to see Iris unconscious next to Nathalia. Oh shit.

"Let her go!" I shouted, my voice came out unclear as I charged at her.

Why does Nathalia keep coming back? I thought Leo finished her off. This was just great. We've got to deal with her again.

I grabbed Nathalia by the neck and pushed her deeper into the water. As she was thrown off, my hand latched onto Iris's wrist, and I began to swim up. Holding my breath was getting harder now. Soon enough, I broke to the surface and inhaled fresh air before panting to recover my lost breath. There was a splash, and Nathalia burst through the water. She lunged at me and pushed me back underwater.

I had to protect Iris. I've let her go way too many times and most of the time, it was to Nathalia. This time, I'm not gonna lose her.

I pushed Nathalia off of me and kicked to the surface. Carrying Iris was extremely hard since she was unconscious. It was like dead weight, but it was to protect her. I finally reached the shore and lugged Iris on before Nathalia grabbed my ankle and pulled me down again. This time, I barely had time to take a breath. My hands fought blindly, and I noticed the water turning red. I kicked away again. I finally crawled onto the shore and took deep gulps of air.

"Very well played, Frost." Nathalia appeared in front of me.

"Stay away from Iris." I scooted in front of my unconscious girlfriend and made my cane appear in my hand.

"I'm not interested. I've only come to warn you." Nathalia brushed her skirt. That's when I noticed she was different. Her skin had a bluish tint to it, and her hair had strands of blue.

"You're a water nymph now?" I questioned. She must've been reincarnated. Nathalia nodded slowly before fiddling with her fingers.

"Listen, in a few days, people are going to change. Something's been taking control of the humans' minds and they're going to launch an attack. They can control people's minds when the people are at their weakest. When they see something they don't want, whoever's behind this can control them. Their eyes will turn gold." Her voice was urgent, and for once in my life, I knew she wasn't lying. She wasn't evil anymore, was she?

"Okay." I simply answered.

"Tell Iris I'm sorry for being the worst sister possible, and that I'll try and make it up to her." She said before melting into water. I stared at the lake for awhile until turning to Iris. Her eyes fluttered slowly.

"You alright, babe?" I whispered. She noticed I was there. Her eyes fully opened as she sat up and held her neck. I moved my hand over and rubbed her back.

"What happened?" I asked quietly.

"Someone... Someone was calling to me. I leaned over the edge... And I saw... I saw you." She was completely bewildered.

"It wasn't... No, it was. But, it was you fighting someone. It was like a vision. And- and you were fighting, but your eyes... They were golden." My breath hitched in my throat.

"You were fighting against my... My brother. Why?" She looked over at me. Her eyes looked broken, and she was going to break down any second.

"I would never. Don't cry, shh..." I engulfed her in my arms and rubbed her back.

My eyes were golden. Nathalia had warned me about the eyes. What was I going to see that was going to make me at my weakest point? Why were they going to take me over? Was the thing that controlled me going to make me fight my girlfriend? How does this all work?

Iris sniffled and rubbed her eyes.

"Is that all you saw?" I asked. She shook her head.

"Okay, what else?"

"I- It wasn't just you. Percy was beside you... And Jacob was beside Leo. Danny and Ryan were protecting me as I cried like a little bitch." Her words were harsh, but they were directed to herself. I got her up to her feet and held her hand.

"Let's not worry about. Let's get you home." I smiled. She gave me a tiny smile before kissing me.
