-Iris-
Did I do what I think I just did? I broke up with Jack... Well, he broke up with me. Or is it the other way around? Whichever it was, we were now off, and I intended to keep it that way. I don't think I'll take him back until I see he really can treat a girl the proper way.
"Iris?" There was a knock at my door. I shuffled over to the door and opened it slowly. Carter was standing there with some new clothes on. He gave me a crooked smile when he saw me before clearing his throat.
"I was wondering if you weren't busy so you could show me around the town. I've never stayed here before." Rubbing the back of his neck, he offered a tiny smile. I did need something to get my mind off Jack.
"Sure! Let's go." I took his hand before we ran downstairs and through the front door.
-Jack-
"I am an idiot." I sighed as I entered the house once again. After flying around to cool off, I returned to the house to see Iris gone.
"Yeah, I know you are." Percy called from the kitchen. The aroma stirring around the house must've been from Percy's cooking. Who knew he was a chef?
"No, I mean, I got jealous. I'm the worst boyfriend ever." Grumbling unhappily, I stalked to the kitchen and grabbed a bottle of water. As I was draining the bottle, Percy set a plate down and shrugged.
"Well, we are doing the opposite here. We're supposed to be finding some girl friends for Iris yet we're bringing in more dudes." Percy chuckled before taking a bite of his hamburger. I perked up.
"Carter's staying!?" My voice went shrill.
"Yeah, but don't worry, he's got a room for himself. One of the advantages of a huge house." He answered, devouring half of his burger. Running a hand through my hair, I groaned before picking my cane up.
"I'm gonna go find Iris." I began but Percy grabbed my arm.
"Is that really a good idea? Jack, listen to me, she's pissed off right now so just let her cool down." He sighed. My shoulders slumped, and I nodded, returning to my seat.
-Iris-
I went out to Burgess with Carter, and if I have to be honest, it was the best time of my life. Carter kept on cracking lame jokes about fire as we walked down the streets. Sure, I was ambushed my some little children, asking about babysitting, but it was the best day ever. We are currently at the amusement park.
"Hey Iris!" Carter called me over.
"What?" I rolled my eyes, setting down the water gun. When I turned around, Carter was holding a giant stuffed teddy bear, and my eyes widened.
"Carter! You didn't!" I ran over, tackling him in a bear hug.
"Yes, I did. Here you go." He smiled, handing me the teddy bear. I squealed in joy and jumped around like a little girl before he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards the Ferris wheel.
"After a ride, I want to have another water gun fight." Carter wagged his finger at me as we waited in line.
"It's your fault you suck at aiming." I had beaten Carter over five times at the water gun game, and he just wouldn't give up. Once we got into the Ferris wheel cart, I sat down across from Carter and smiled.
I was really beginning to doubt my relationship with Jack. Although we do love each other to the moon and back, he never did act like it. Sure, the occasional kissing and saying we love one another, but he is really different. Am I really doubting him?
"So, Percy said I could stay with you guys in your huge-ass house." Carter smiled.
"He did?" I pondered.
"Yeah." Carter smiled.
"Hey, Carter?"
"What's wrong?"
"Nothing, but how do you and Percy know each other?" I asked, staring into his fiery red eyes.
"Oh... Well, you see... Um... Percy and I are..." He stuttered, running a hand through his hair.
"PercyandIarebrothers." Carter said so quickly I couldn't catch it.
"What?"
"Percy and I are brothers." He said slower this time. My eyes widened as I stared at him in shock. I was speechless. Why did Percy never tell me? How the hell did he have a brother? I never saw anyone when I went to Percy's house. This is mad.
"Yeah... Maybe we should go back and talk about it with him." Carter grabbed my hand, pulling me out of the Ferris wheel cart. I just then realized the ride was over. We took off, flying back home. The instant we were inside, I exploded.
"PERCY DAVIDSON, GET YOUR ASS IN HERE!!" I shouted, startling Carter. Percy came tumbling down the staircase, rubbing his eyes.
"What's going on?" He slurred.
"How dare you not tell me you have a brother!? What's wrong with you!?" I snapped, slapping his head.
"Ouch! Babes, that hurt!" Percy rubbed his head, whining about the pain.
"Serves you right, bitch." I rolled my eyes once again before flying upstairs.
-
When I walked downstairs the next morning, Jack was flying around the living room, murmuring something. I gulped.
"Argh! Get out of my head! She's not going to die!" Jack suddenly shouted, clutching at his head and tugging at his silvery white hair. I remained silent, watching him in the shadows."SHUT UP!" He shot ice in a random direction. My teeth bit my lip to keep myself from screaming. If he kept this up, he could destroy the entire house. Tears glistened in his eyes as his feet touched the ground.
"Just leave. I haven't done anything wrong, why do you torture me?" Jack cried. Watching him in pain like this was hurting me as well. Just when I thought Jack was going to be better, he collapsed on the ground.
"Jack?" I jogged over. Behind the couch, Jack was lying there, curled up in a ball and asleep.
"Jack, wake up." I shook him softly. His eyes fluttered a bit before remaining closed. A sigh left my lips as I stared at his face. My hand touched his cheek, and I felt the familiar coldness of his body's sensation. Tears pricked my eyes as I stared at him. My hand ran through his messy, tousled up hair. His breathing was shallow, but at least he was okay. All of a sudden, he snapped forward. When he turned to me, his eyes were gold.
"Jack!" I scrambled back to the stairs. He chuckled, following me and then towering in front of me with a sick smile plastered on his face.
"Jack, listen to me, this isn't you." I attempted to reason with him. All he did was laugh.
"Do you really know who I am? You think you're everything, but you're not." He snarled.
"Jack would never say that. You're not Jack. Get away from me!" I screamed, covering my ears.
"Oh, but I'm right, aren't I? You don't know Jack as well as you think you do. All you do is argue with him."
"That's not true. I love Jack!"
"Liar."
"You're not Jack. I'm not listening to you."
"Look at me. Of course I'm Jack. This is my true side. I only hold it back from you because you would never accept it." Jack smirked.
"It's not true. Jack, I know you care. If you didn't care, I'd be dead." I had tears welling up in my eyes now. His cold, heartless expression softened a little before he closed his eyes. When he reopened them, they were his beautiful blue ones again.
"Jack." I smiled.
"Iris?"
"Oh, you're back!" Running up to him, I hugged him tightly before someone pulled me away. They covered my eyes, but I heard Jack scream and a gunshot. I thrashed around and cried.
"Let me go! Stop!" I shouted. When the hand left my eyes, I saw Leo and Nova standing there. Tears streamed down my cheeks as my gaze fell to Jack.
"LEO, HOW COULD YOU!?" I grabbed his shirt collar and slammed him against the wall.
"He didn't do anything wrong! You know it's the demon controlling people, how could you shoot him!?" My anger took its place as I kicked Leo multiple times. Jacob ran over and pulled me off of him.
"You bastard! Get off of me!" I pushed Jacob off of me and sunk to my knees.
"Who's idea was this?" My voice was low and quiet. When no one answered, I stood up and turned to my brothers.
"Who's. Idea. Was. This!?" I ordered them to tell me.
"Jack's." Leo mumbled.
"But... Why?" Tears streamed down my cheeks as I ran over to Jack.
"I said... If I ever attacked you again or if my eyes changed to gold again, I was to be shot and locked away in the basement." Jack breathed heavily.
"It's the least I could do. To keep you safe and that way, you won't die as easily." A smile appeared on his face as he stroked my cheek with his thumb.
"You fucking idiot." I bent down, my forehead touching his as I pressed my lips against his.
"I love you." Jack smiled.
"You won't die, I promise. I love you too." I kissed him once again before Leo and Jacob took him away.
