Hot Colleagues

"No, I'm fine." I disputed through my cellphone with my flustered Aunt. She kept offering me to come stay with her in Canada, but I've been there before and I'm never going back. She insisted that I'd be 'safer' living with a legal adult, but last time I stayed in her small 3 story apartment, she at least almost burned the house down once a week attempting to prepare dinner. And that's not even the worst part. "Stephanie do this, Stephanie do that." She'd abruptly order me to do everything around the house.

I spent 8th and 9th grade there, and made lots of friends at the tiny school in the outskirts of Toronto, and one day when I simply asked her to eat lunch with me, she gladly came, but it turned into a disaster.

All of my friends, the ones who considered me 'cool' and 'fun to be around', were sitting just rows behinds us and decided to come over and meet my aunt. She suddenly dove into the topic of my mother leaving us and how I'd work at a hotdog stand to raise money. Basically they all laughed and shoved my shoulder mockingly, finding it terribly hilarious, whilst I on the other hand began to gradually turn into a deep hue of red. The next day, they all ignored me by snickering as we passed in the corridors, brushing shoulders ignorantly. I was immediately plummeted into the category of the "awkward kids."

All because of one huge mishap with my mother.

"Honey, why not?" She cooed, her voice full of rippling despair.

"Because. I've got to go, I'm at work." I huffed, my voice cracking with annoyance. "Don't be impolite, Stephanie." she grimly ordered, and I could see the annoyed pursing of her lips in my head. "I'm staying here in London, now please, if you will, I can get fired." I argued, and she defeatedly murmured incoherent words along the lines of 'whatever, I didn't want you to come either way.'

I hung up the phone and waited as a slim girl ambled towards the check out counter with a handful of clothes. "Erm, will that be all." I coughed, grabbing a blouse from the pile and scanning it. "Yes, it will." she replied in such a monotone voice, that I had to look up at her.

She had shiny green eyes and long curly blonde hair. Oddly, she looked familiar, the glare in her eyes seeming to piece together long ago memories. A name suddenly popped in my head and I knew who she was. "Lark?" I chuckled, my lips turning together into a grin as I remembered the grade 10 friend that moved away. "Yes, It's me." she groaned rolling her eyes.

I then remember we had some sort of fire between us, and never did we act friendly towards each other. My smile faded into a frown and I pushed back my hair and finished scanning the rest of her clothes.

"Lark, why'd you move?" I spoke gently, a shiver running down my back as my eyes rested onto the intimidating girl in front of me. She huffed and shook her head. "It's family stuff, none of your stupid business anyways." she disputed, cocking her head towards the machine that had finished printing her receipt.

I ripped it off and stuffed it into her bag, shoving it towards her chest whilst a frown tugged on my lips. "Right. Have a nice day." I softly laughed, though not a piece of adoration had settled in my chest at the sight of the arrogant 17 year old. "Pardon me." She quipped, grabbing the bag and smiling artificially as she swayed out the door.

"Wow. Who was she?" Someone from behind me quietly cooed. I pivoted on my heel and turned to see Elton, an 18 year old boy who worked with me. I never questioned why he worked in a boutique, automatically assuming that he hand an interest in other guys. "She was H.O.T!" He chuckled, seeming to tip his head towards the door she just left out of. I just pictured him only kidding around since he was obviously gay, wearing acid washed jeans and a black button up.

"Whatever." I muttered, nonchalance coating my features. He still looked dazed, seeming to imagine the blonde once again.

"Stop, you're gay." I half joked, a smile appearing on my face. His face hardened, his eyes stony with an appalled expression. A whip of air quickly collected around me and I found my position to be pushed seductively against a wall, by Elton himself. He was panting hard, his forehead resting against mine.

His pink lips parted as he spoke. "I'm gay?" he breathed, suggesting himself. My face was covered in agony as I feared his diminishing stature. "I-I thought that you were, r-right?" I choked, shaking my head, trying to squirm from his grip. He tried to muster up some words, but his anger overtook him and suddenly his warm inviting lips were pressed to mine hungrily.

A spark of tension grew between us, one that I couldn't quite make out. Our lips detached, his brown eyes looking into mine making my face grow pale. "I like girls." he hissed, slamming his lips back on mine, which emitted a moan from my mouth. "Got it? He breathed against my lips. I nodded, kissing back on his bitter lips, his taste making me cringe with ecstasy.

This side of Elton was terribly hot, I don't mind going to work everyday now.
