The Ontario hospital wasn't so similar to the ones in England. It's walls were painted a pastel blue with strips of gold lining the door frames. The room numbers were placed on the door with metal stencils. It intrigued me of how different things become as you see them in different locations. I guess anything intrigued me at this moment as I literally attempted to free my mind of everything that wouldn't remind me of the ugly bruises and scratches on my face. After being bandaged and directed outside of the hospital to find a cab, my mind finally reeled in the unbelievable events that occurred this evening. My feet steepled to the ground and I suddenly remembered Dawn. Surely there'd be no one to pick her up and bring her to a hotel considering she was under aged and she was alone, so I swiveled around and ducked back through the hospital doors. It was a relief to see her golden locks ruffled down her chest as she pursed her lips and peered around the waiting room. My eyes met hers and she firmly smiled. I couldn't help but do the same. Her fingers twitched upwards as she pointed at me, her eyebrows furrowed. She mouthed something that I couldn't quite decipher, so I quickly made way towards her. "What?" I breathed, taking a seat in the shallow plushness of the chair. "Did you receive your medical investment?" She repeated, grabbing a paper and putting it in my hands. I scanned the words, slowly realizing that it was the notes from the air company notifying us that they would pay for our medical bills and get us a hotel if desired. "No, I haven't gotten mine, no not yet they must've forgotten, maybe." I stammered, shaking my hand as I gave her the paper back. "Oh." She cocked her lips into a circle. "I'll go get one."

My feet padded across the white tile and landed just before the reception desk. "Erm-- I didn't get my medical investment." I breathed, shaking my shoulders vigilantly. The lady gave me a superior look, as if she was an authority who gets payed well while I was the passenger of a plane crash. She looked at me like she spit on my shoes and I let her. "Name." She drooled, her goo goo eyes tracing my face and slowly finding the keyboard again. "Stephanie Price." I managed, sulking down at my scuffed converse. Suddenly a machine beside her ignited to life and out printed what I believed was my medical investment. She bitterly smiled and handed it to me. "Thanks." I snapped, walking away with my lanky feet falling one after another. "Do you want to stay in the hotel with me?" I asked Dawn, drawling in her beautiful pale eyes. "F'course." She breathed. It was then I noticed that her words were accented in the same way that mine were. With a defiant tug at what was left of my luggage, we traipsed through the automatic doors and quickly found a cab. "What part of England are you from?" I inquired as we settled into the cab. The question seemed to catch her off guard as she snapped her eyes up at me and pursed her lips. "Birchwood." She breathed, scuttling her fingers across the black screen of her phone. "Where will I be taking you?" the cab driver spoke up, his voice stony and deep which frightened me to no end. "The nearest hotel, the best nearest hotel?" I awkwardly reprimanded, trying to sound sure of myself, but unsurprisingly failed at it. "Ok." He gruffly reciprocated. "Have you called anyone?" I asked Dawn, inching towards her so that our elbows knocked together-- a sense of a safety rushing through me. "No, my phone is dead."

I took a quick look at her phone before responding. "I have an iPhone 5 as well, you can use my charger if you'd like."

She shuttered before turning towards me with a wary glint in her eye. "Yeah, thanks, but I have one." She assured me, patting the green tote roped around her arm. "Alright." I breathed. We cruised for no more than 10 minutes until falling upon a large hotel building with glistening windows that must've been cleaned this morning. We stumbled out the stinky cab before attempting to give the driver England currency and he scoffed, throwing his head against the steering wheel. "Oh-- right." I breathed sheepishly. So while scuffling my fingers through my pouch in hopes to find any left over money from New Jersey, I thankfully fell upon a 20 dollar bill. "There ya go." He teased, grabbing the bill and sending a wink towards Dawn and me. We almost gagged as we started towards the two glass doors with crescent shaped door handles. "Creeper." Dawn whistled, brushing her hair with her fingertips. Wisps of the golden locks seemed to fly in her face very often. She didn't seem to like it as she wore a scowl every time.

After showing the receptionists our medical Investment, she reprimanded by nodding and handing us a key, a giddy smile placed on her plump face. I smiled back, a real smile because she was one of the only people today that seemed not cocky and not creepy and only genuine. Martha. It was printed on her name badge. We stampeded into our hotel, plopping into our beds before wincing at the bruises on our petty faces. "Thank you, Stephanie." I heard Dawn whisper with the impression of a sleepy puppy. I peered around to find her sprawled on her bed, her hair fanning out in different directions. Her grey eyes were bright and sincere, full of life. It almost surprised me, since the plane ride they were always so dull and as she sat across from me, they were raging with bliss. "Yeah.." Was all I replied with, taking the pins from my hair and setting them on the table beside me. "When are we gonna find another flight?" She fell back into the pillows, using her toes to nudge off her pink and green socks. "We can now, if you want. Or no-- maybe tomorrow. Let's get some rest." I suggested, climbing out of the bed and unzipping my luggage. Dawn mimicked me, pulling some pajamas out of her tote. I instinctively grabbed mine and pulled them towards the washroom. After getting dressed and settling back into bed, I felt obligated to pull Dawn by her lanky wrists and put her in my bed. We only had each other and I suddenly felt safe to be close with her. But she beat me to it as she scuffled beneath her sheets and tiptoed towards my bed, climbing in beside me. "M'sorry if you're not a cuddly person." She hummed, her lips pressed into a line. I ignored her apology, using my arms to scoop her closer and nudge my nose to her forehead. With that, we both drew our eyelids shut and lulled each other to sleep with the silent buzz of our relaxed breathing.

I was awoken by my phone continuously ringing. With an irritatingly loud humph, I grabbed the device and pressed it to my ear. "Uhmp-- hello?" I breathed, rubbing my eyes. "Steph!" The voice shouted, and not in an elated way. More so on the distressed side. "Wha-?" I sat up quickly brushing aside my hair that was in a tangled updo. "Oh my gosh Stephanie." It was Harry, and he wasn't so happy. "I was supposed to pick you up from the airport, instead finding out that your plane crashed. And then finding out that you were fine and released from the hospital, and you haven't even called?" He ranted, and I could only picture his long fingers tangling into his mussed curls. Fuck, I had totally forgotten. What the hell-- oh my gosh. I'm such a-- oh my gosh, what've I done.

"Harry." I breathed and quickly jumped out of bed, waking the young girl curled up into the pillows in the process. She hummed disapprovingly, pursing her lips and blinking her sleepy eyes. But I bit my lip and started to gather my things. "Harry I'm getting a flight now, I'm heading to the airport now." I told him, gesturing for Dawn to get up and get her things together as well. She caught on quickly slinging her clothes into the bag and draping it over her shoulder. "Urg!" He seethed, and the line went dead. And so did my soul. It went dead physically.

"Let's catch a flight." I informed Dawn. She nodded and we firmly tugged on some shoes and scampered out the hotel.
