Dawn's POV

Somewhere in the night, Stephanie had called back and wanted to pick me up. She was freaking out, and I felt somewhat responsible for her angst. She should've answered her phone in the first place. I told her that she could just get me in the morning, so as the sun peeked over the horizon allowing bright slashes of light to seep through the blinds of Bella's room, I began to feel sad that it was my time to leave. She was still asleep against her pillow her arms dotted with goosebumps and her face flush from coldness. It was pretty frigid in her room, not that I minded. I texted Stephanie the address and she said she oughta be here in 25 minutes.

I turned my head back towards Bella. She was so dead asleep that I couldn't even muster up the energy to clasp my hair around the thick lock of hair on her face and gently move it aside on her shoulder. I could just marvel at her beauty and urge myself to wake her up. I couldn't though, so I just sat for the next few minutes and kept my gaze on her, but my phone began to ring and I quickly answered it so that the blaring ringtone would stop to prevent from waking her.

"Hello?" I whispered harshly. "Dawn I'm outside, and I bought some donuts and coffee if you'd like to bring some to your-" "No, Steph, it's fine. I'll be out in a minute." I whispered again, cutting through her offer. As I gathered my things, my plan was to quietly walk out without being heard and to leave. Events from last would be brought to mind if I came face to face with her, and I didn't want that at the moment. My mind was still fuzzy as it was, so I stuffed half of my items under my arm and held the rest in my hand. My feet softly padded against the carpet, but as I rested my hand on the door knob, a rush of nervousness overcame me. What if it squeaked? She would definitely hear and wake up. My thoughts were set at bay as a voice entered my ears. "Dawn?" Bella muttered, her voice like molasses despite it being the early hours of the morning.

I restrained from turning around, instead letting my hand fall from the cold metal of the door knob. A nerve itched under my skin as I debated on what to do or say. "Dawn, what are you doing?" She pried, and I heard the bed sheets ruffle which made my fingers twitch in anticipation. Next, I heard her feet padding across the floor and an exhilarating rush of adrenaline pierced through me at the cold feeling of the pads of her fingers resting easily on my wrist. I snapped around quickly, my eyes falling onto her face. Her skin looked so smooth under the dim light of the morning sun and her lips looked puffy, perhaps still not recovered from last nights happenings. My eyes traced her features as my stomach churned at the thought of my fingers on her last night. "Are you leaving or something? You've got all your stuff like your up and goin'. Weren't you gonna say bye?" She quickly asked, releasing my wrist as her eyebrows twitched upwards allowing small crinkles to rest between them.

"Yes, my rides here." I informed her, my eyes falling to the ground. And before I could look back up at her after not hearing a reply, she quickly slipped her lips between mine and closed the space between us by resting one hand on the back of my neck, her thumb pressed below my ear, and the other hand loosely dangling around my waist. I reacted quickly, letting my hands fall under the backsides of her thighs and tapping her butt to which she obligately jumped and wrapped her legs around my waist. My back pressed to the door of her room, creating a soft thud. her tongue slipped into my mouth delicately, so smoothly, it seemed fragile. I kissed her like her lips were made of paper, or glass. I kissed her like a pristine porcelain china vase.

"Bella!" Someone called from down the hall, and immediately she jumped down, swiping her thumb over her bottom lip as I awkwardly shifted my gaze towards her bedroom door. The door opened, revealing her step-brother shirtless, holding a piece of cinnamon toast in his hand, half eaten. "Someone's car is parked outside, they've honked several times. Must be your friends ride." He murmured, his eyes falling on me and running down my legs to my feet then back up. I felt like I was a bug under a magnifying glass. "Um, you should probably go." He added, giving me a crooked smile. "I probably should." I replied, looking at Bella, then him before pushing past him out the door.
