The pair of them sat quiet for awhile, JD watching the road and every so often making a left or right turn. Usually left, he preferred left- similar to left hands; they were less common.
The road less traveled.
Jason thought and grinned to himself.
Admittedly Jason Dean had no clue where he was going.
He hadn't planned ahead as much as he normally would've, but when the idea struck him to greet his former girlfriend he'd felt as if it wasn't necessary.

Which was later proven unessential to the blue prints-because to tell the truth, JD had no idea what he was thinking in the first place. It was an impulsive idea that he'd refused but greed somehow got the best of him when he saw her. He'd only toddled into the gas station to grab his slushie and snack and blow the place.
Then he stood in front of the check out counter and noticed how fragile she looked and how her face had thinned out a bit, he saw how her curves had shifted in only a few months and how her hair was tighter and her clothes looser.
He realized how her eyes were tired and she was afraid but she didn't run because at the same time Veronica was just as fearless.

That was why he loved her, he loved her because somewhere inside of him she flicked the switch off that spread fear through his veins and instead allowed him to be seventeen and see the world as something beautiful.
Instead of chaos and dinosaur bones or cracks in his skin because of all the damage he'd suffered. There was a beautiful girl beside him who'd offered to give him the one thing he'd never known; happiness and a normal life

You can't call moving around every two months for eight years: normal
You can't call your mother purposely walking away and standing right before deaths arrow: happy

You can't call Jason Dean's life simple or happy or whatever the ladder is because he'd never been exposed to those emotions, he never got the chance and Veronica could only think about how it was all too late. The man was completely corrupted and there was nothing she could do.

Of course Jason wasn't 17 anymore and not everything was beautiful, but he did know one thing that was remarkably gorgeous. That 'thing' being the women that was currently sitting shot gun and glaring out the passenger window while chewing on her lip. "C'mon Ronnie, relax a lil'" Jason joked and laughed shortly.
Veronica's reaction was to smack his right arm weakly and sigh, "shut up" she looked down and fumbled with her seatbelt "what do you want now? Can't you just take me home?" She whined.
JD finally made a pit stop after an hour of driving, he pulled into another local 7/11 to get gas and popped the trunk.

Veronica watched as he made his way around the i'roc, grabbing something from the back and tucking it away in his trench coat, continuing around the car to her door and yanking it open.
She stared at him for a moment as he reached his hand out towards her and tilted his head a bit to the right (JD's left). "C'mon" he smirked, Veronica took note of a short scar that seemed to follow along the centre of his lips, "let's go get a slushi." He stated harshly as her fingers subconsciously twisted into his and he pulled her out of the car and into the store.

Veronica wandered into the store behind him and swallowed hard, watching every step he took. Jason led her to the back of the store and she did as he'd requested; he filled up a slushi cup and passed her one, nodding at the machine as a gesture for her follow his lead, Veronica filled hers and reached for a lid.

JD watched as 'Ronica's fingers slipped while she struggled to pop the lid onto her cup, she was scared of him and he didn't want that. Carefully Jason slipped behind her, resting one hand on her hip and placed his other over top hers, fixing the lid and slipping the straw in for her. "Veronica, I said relax"  Jason spoke with a hint of uncomfortable laughter, his best attempt at helping her to clam down.
"Take me home" Veronica locked her jaw and turned her head to look up at him.
"It's too late to turn the clock back now" JD stated and shook his head, muttering to himself.
"I didn't ask for this, I don't want you."
Veronica continued and began to ramble "this was a mistake-"

"What was a mistake?" Jason butted in.
"Loving you- my mistake is loving you because I was far, far away from you and I could've shot you while you were driving or rolled out of the car and ran..." She trailed off, Jason grabbed the hem of Veronica's blouse and trailed over to a corner for privacy. As he pulled her in he took note of her eyes watering, Veronica took a breath and looked up as Jason waited for her to speak. "My problem is that no matter how far I go my heart doesn't stray from you but you're fucking crazy and this, this isn't like me." Veronica stuttered and fumbled with the straw in her slushi.

Jason rubbed the back of his head and sighed, "Veronica c'mon this is exactly what you want, this is who you are" he tried to convince the brunette. "No!" Veronica spat and stepped back from the young man, "no, the most important parts of me are my brain and my heart and right now my heart is being a moron" Veronica laughed to herself as she wiped under her eyes and tried to turn away.

Jason Dean gripped Veronica's shoulder and twisted her to face him, holding her biceps firmly "you're making a scene" he gritted his teeth as he spoke; "it's like Bonnie and Clyde, just come with me" he grinned and tried to argue.
She wouldn't have it though, she stormed out side, Jason Dean quickly pursuing her trail and both sitting down in their assigned seats: Veronica sighing and JD biting his tongue and hitting his leg out of frustration. Ronnie flinched and glanced over wide eyed and gulped as she buckled and waited.

JD cared, or at least he pretended to- and even if you care enough to pretend well then surely he must've had some feelings in his old dinosaur bones. He needed her corpse, he needed her willingly. So Instead of going against his former girlfriends wishes he took her home as she'd asked multiple times. He parked the i'roc in front of Veronica's family home an hour and a half later and waited for her to pull herself out, shut the door and drag herself inside.

Jason never asked about Veronica's mother being in the hospital or if she knew that her father was having an affair with the deceased Heather Chandlers mother, he didn't dig into her personal life or require anything of her to get out of the car, he simply said he was going to wait serval minutes and then leave.

Several minutes later and Veronica Sawyer stepped back out the front door and made her way towards the vehicle, arms crossed a bag hung loosely in one hand. Veronica's voice shook with defeat as she stated in a sarcastic tone "here I am Clyde..."
