Flashback

I use to live right next door to Sofie. That's how we became best friends. We would walk to school everyday. Do our homework together. She taught me how to play pool that's how I started pool. She would mostly come to my house. We live in virgina so we would sneak off to the beach.

Sofie knows everything about me. Well almost, she knows my crushes and my life and who picks on me. I know everything about her I know who she likes even though she isn't aloud to date. I know her parents are nice outside the house but on the inside it's a different story I guess that's why Sofie and I had stopped eating for awhile. She also had cuts on her wrist.

I cried when I found out it was terrible to think my best friend had done that. Even though we all think about it. She did it. She noticed the bruises on me before but I never told her how I got them. It's not only her house that it turns ugly on the inside.

"ZOEY!!"my dad yelled my name from downstairs. I know why too. He just got my report card I didn't do so good in physics this year.

I go down stairs. To face my dad. He looks at me in the eye and I see so much anger. I can tell he is drunk he never gets this angry. My hands start to shake.

"What is this?" He yelled. Showing me my report card. I look down at the floor not looking in his eyes I don't answer. The next thing I don't expect he slaps me. I fall to the ground and hold my face face it hurts so bad.

"ANSWER ME!!!" He yells. I get back up and he hits me again. I start to cry. Wishing my mom would get home. I still don't say anything. He hits me again.

This time I feel blood trickle down my face. My father has never hit me before I guess you never should judge a book by its cover. He just keeps hitting me and I cry even harder.

The best thing happens since I came down stairs. The door opens and I hear my mom screaming at my dad to stop it. Next thing I know everything goes black.

5 hours later

I wake up in a hospital bed. My mother crying right beside me. My best friend Sofie on the other side. She is crying to.

"Zoey your ok! Thank goodness!" Sofie says. She hugs me.

"Sofie could you leave us for a minute?" My mom asked. Sofie nods and leaves. "Honey I'm so sorry this happened. That's why I made the best decision. We're moving, we are going to go live in Michigan. I already got a job offer today for it I wasn't going to take it until now I decided we need to leave." I swear my heart stops there. That means having to leave Sofie. I start to cry.
