Another Life

After the date

I got home around 10. I wanted to tell Zoey what happened. I knew she would want to hear too. When I got into the room Zoey was sitting on the bed her face was pale. I'm really starting to worry about her. I knew I shouldn't have left. I rush over to her side.

"Zoey what is wrong?" I ask. A trace of worry is in my voice. Zoey points to a corner.

"Karen was there. She was here," Zoey says. I think she just tired. I go with it anyways.

"It's ok she isn't coming back zo," I say. I make her lay down and go to sleep. I go to take a quick shower. I just need to get the pool smell off me. I had fun on my date though. Hopefully this good memory will cover up the bad dreams of Karen pointing the gun at Zoey and me. Being pushed off the cliff.

I shiver thinking about it. I get out of the shower. I look at the mirror again. "I'm back bitch." is written on the mirror. Wow sound like pretty little liars all over again. Thats a TV show Zoey and I watch. I hear a scream, it's Zoey. I dash for our room hoping no one woke up.

"Zoey what's wrong?" I ask. As I run into the room. Zoey is sleeping, its the first time I have seen Zoey be able to sleep. Then who was screaming? Maybe it's me who is going crazy not Zoey. Zoey wakes up, that's about all the sleep she will get for the night. I know what to do now when this happens.

"Zoey let's go get you some hot tea and watch the fosters," I say. She nods and we head down stairs. This would be the 3rd night I had no sleep. I don't care as long as I know Zoey is ok. I wonder if she would sleep better of I got her some sleeping meds.

I decide I'll go do that tomorrow and try it out tomorrow night. Zoey makes popcorn for us while we watch the fosters. We've had a movie night like this everyday since Karen broke in. Sometimes I wish I would have never told Zoey where I was at and lied and said I was studying for the test and needed to be alone. Now she is suffering because of me.
