Wonwoo wakes up to the clanging of dishes in the kitchen. It must be mom, he reasons. As he hasn't seen her for few days at all, he gets up right away and goes wash up quickly before practically running the stairs down.
"Well, somebody is in a rush today. Good morning, Woonie."
Wonwoo chuckles at the nickname his mother probably just made up. She always makes up the weirdest nicknames for Wonwoo and 'Woonie' isn't actually even that weird compared to the other ones.
Wonwoo's mouth curls up to a soft smile similar to the one on his mother's face.
"Good morning," Wonwoo answers, smiling.
He feels relieved to note that his mother doesn't seem to have noticed anything at all of Wonwoo's partying.
And seeing his mother there in the kitchen - sipping tea from her cup while reading morning paper - makes Wonwoo so happy. Right at that moment, he does not even remember last night's depressive thoughts at all. Seeing his mother smile at him softly and smelling the familiar smell of that certain tea his mother loves to drink - it is the most comforting thing he can think of right now. It makes him feel like at least something hasn't changed. There have been so many changes in his life during the past few days and weeks, and sometimes he just wishes things wouldn't change so abruptly.
_____
Already half an hour later Wonwoo's mother has to leave for work. Although Wonwoo is a bit sad that they didn't have much time to talk, he's still glad that they had time at all. He just misses spending time properly with her.
"I have to rush now, bye Woonie! I love you!" she says, grabbing her keys and phone. She pecks Wonwoo's forehead on her way to the door.
"Love you too, have a nice day," Wonwoo mutters, mouth still full of food.
"Oh and by the way, turn your phone on. I tried to call you yesterday but I couldn't. It wasn't anything important anyway... but still! I need to be able to contact you!" she adds, her head peeking from behind the wall of vestibule, "Now I'm seriously leaving, bye!" she laughs.
Wonwoo nods and mumbles his goodbye. When he hears the door close, he gets up quickly, starting to walk around recklessly. He had already forgotten about his phone and he really has no idea where it could be. What is he going to say to his mother when she asks about it again?
Wonwoo doesn't even have Seokmin's number so he can't call him using their home phone to ask if he has seen it.
He sits down again and groans in annoyance, pondering the situation he's in. The summer holiday has just started, so he won't be seeing Seokmin around. He doesn't have Seokmin's phone number. All he really knows of Seokmin is where he lives and Wonwoo is too shy to just walk up to Seokmin's door suddenly. He and Seokmin are not really that good friends yet that it wouldn't be weird or awkward to do that.
Then his face lightens up as he realizes; maybe, just maybe, he could go ask Hoshi for help. He knows where Hoshi lives and they're almost like friends already. Wonwoo really has no other choice, so he decides to just go see if Hoshi is at his apartment at the moment. Grabbing his keys, he makes his way out of the house and starts walking immediately to Hoshi's apartment.
_____
The door opens almost right away when Wonwoo knocks on the door and Hoshi's confused face peeks from behind the door curiously.
"Oh! Wonwoo? Hey!" Hoshi smiles, and opens the door wider for Wonwoo to see that Hoshi is shirtless again.
"Um, hi," Wonwoo rubs the back of his head, a bit embarrassed when he realizes that he didn't even check the time before rushing to Hoshi's and he might have come too early, "Uh, what time is it?"
Hoshi laughs, "About eight o'clock. Did you come all the way here to ask that?"
"No, no, of course not," Wonwoo chuckles, "I'm actually here to ask you if you could help me find my phone. I haven't found it yet and I don't have Seokmin's phone number."
Hoshi nods, "Of course I can. We can call him or something, I have his number."
"Thank you! By the way, sorry. I woke you up, right?"
"Nope, not really. I woke up like fifteen minutes before you came. Now come in!"
_____
A few hours later, the boys are walking back towards Hoshi's place, Wonwoo's phone finally with them. They found it at Seokmin's place under a couch Wonwoo can't even remember seeing. The phone has run out of battery though, but Wonwoo couldn't be happier to have it back.
He feels a bit lightheaded now that he has no worries, and so he asks Hoshi if he wants to go eat ice cream with him. Hoshi of course complies, and soon the boys are sitting next to each other, licking on their ice creams happily, as the sun warms them nicely.
"You know, Seokmin invited me to this party he's going. I want to go but I'm kinda worried that I'll be a total outsider there," Hoshi starts after a short, comfortable silence. Wonwoo can kind of guess what Hoshi is trying to say and so he smiles and nods, gesturing for him to go on.
"And I thought that maybe you'd want to come with me..?" Hoshi says in questioning tone.
"Yeah, sure. That will for sure be fun," Wonwoo smiles at Hoshi, whose face lightens up as he smiles widely.
"Great! We'll have a lot of fun this Friday at Woozi's party!"
