I'm back! I've been having a busy summer though, so not sure when I'll be here again.
Long awaited update, I hope you guys enjoy it!
I could see by the way she paced briskly around the apartment that she was shocked about my proposal.
I was mortified. I had proposed to her, in front of a giant crowd, and I had been rejected.
Fucking rejected.
The story was all over the news. Tristan Four, rejected by the girl he had been chasing his whole life.
Things were awkward. We were a couple, unmarried, not even dating. Raising a son together, in awkward silence.
Tobiah always seemed to be looking at me with a smirk on his face. He was just past two years old, but the kid was smarter than I've given him credit for.
Tris never seemed to smile anymore. There were bags under her eyes, and she frowned almost every second she got.
Toby's Dauntless bear was on the floor, next to his toy train. He kept them at the foot of my bedroom.
Yes, I have sold my apartment and I am now living in a small room on Tris's bottom floor. She originally used it as a book room; Tris had taken up reading as a hobby while I was gone.
I was shocked when she invited me to move in, which was a week after my proposal. She sat me down, told me she wanted to say yes, but that she couldn't bring herself to do it.
Why not? I asked her.
Because things are simply going too fast.
We moved her books and comfy chair into the corner of her bedroom, and I had poured some of my money into renovating the space.
Her two bedroom, one bathroom apartment had turned into a three bedroom, two bath. We had painted the walls and made the place less dark.
Tobiah kept his toys at the floor of my room, which fit a small desk, a music stand, my guitar, a dresser, and my bed.
I was fine with the small space, as long as Tris was in the same room as me.
I was shocked she gave me a second chance.
Amar, that reminded me. He also gave me a second chance to become a superstar, but I had dropped the offer as an effort to reunite with my boy and his mother.
White lips, pale face.
Breathing in snowflakes.
Burnt tongue, sour face.
And they say, she's in the class eighteen...
"Hey," Tris greeted me, as I stepped out of my room. Toby was sitting in his high chair, and Tris was standing at the stove flipping pancakes.
Pancakes, that had become our thing. When things were awkward, she would simply ask me pancakes?
And we'd sit together in the kitchen while Tris stirred up some pancakes, eating together in comfy silence.
"I-I took up a job today," Tris gulped. Her eyes were searching my face, waiting for a simple response.
I smiled. "Good for you."
"I'm an entertainer now, in the bar downtown," she told me. "I'm saving up for a house for us."
She paused for a second, searching through my eyes.
"And Toby, of course," she added quickly, as some sort of afterthought.
~
Tris was at her bar, performing. Tobiah was quick asleep, and I was sitting next to the fireplace, my eyes burning.
The doorbell rang quickly, and I stood up to retrieve it.
A short, black haired girl was on the other side. Christina.
"Hey," she began.
And then a second later she jumped up on me, her legs wrapped around my waist, her arms encircled around my neck, her lips pressed upon me.
I don't know when you guys should expect another update. I've been doing a lot of golf and math this summer, so I'm really not sure when I'll be updating my other stories.
QOTC: single or taken?
