**Jace's pov**

Bright light shone through the gap in my bedroom curtains, which I had hastily closed before succumbing to sleep late last night, bringing me slowly back to reality along with the sound of my bedroom door being slammed open.

"Wakey Wakey dada!" Alicia screeches, as she launches herself off of the floor and onto my stomach, prematurely winding me.

"Hiya angel!" I say flipping her over and tickling her, listening to her cute giggles as she tries to escape.

"Stop dada!" She laughed, successfully wiggling out of my grasp, before leaping off the bed and running out of my room, her little feet smacking against the wood.

Chuckling, I run a hand down my face in an attempt to wake myself up properly. Then I climbed out of bed to open my curtains, revealing my new neighbour leaning out of her window admiring the cloudless, blue sky.

When she noticed me across from her, I smiled sending a small wave in her direction receiving an even smaller one back, along with a cute flush spreading across her cheekbones. Deciding to tear my eyes away from the adorable ness in front of me, I turned to grab some clothes to take with me into the bathroom so I could have a shower. Not long after I was in my kitchen eating a slice of toast, shrugging on my leather jacket and kissing my mum and daughters cheeks, before finally leaving for school.

Arriving at the gates, I instantly walk over to my group of friends, who were stood waiting for me by the school steps.

Chase Matrix, the oldest of our group,  is the first to greet me with a quick pat on the back, before withdrawing his hand to run it through his neat hair. Next to say good morning are the twins Tommy and Tio Woodshed, whose hazel eyes sparkle with mischief as they both grip me in a hug. Then there's Cameron Waterstaff, who only ruffles my hair, too cool for any sentimental stuff, as he labelled it when we were both a lot younger and a smirk in my direction.

"Hey man! You heard about the new girl?" Chase exclaimed, blue eyes wide with curiosity.

"Yeah, she's my new neighbour actually." I quickly reply, scanning the parking lot to see if I could catch a glimpse of her blonde hair.

"You lucky bastard!" The twins yelled, causing a few people to turn our way. "What's she look like?"

"Not gonna lie she's probably the cutest thing I've ever seen."

**Jamie's POV**

Walking into school is normally quite nerve wracking, but it's even worse when you don't know anyone and all eyes seem to be on you. Due to being surrounded by prying eyes, I decided to keep my head down, my hands clenching the inside of my sweater sleeves to help relive some of my nerves and my own eyes focusing on my feet to ensure I wouldn't trip and make a fool out of myself, on my first day.

In my peripheral vision I spotted a familiar head of black hair, that belonged to my good looking neighbour surrounded by four guys who all seemed to be talking enthusiastically about something, as I passed them on my way up the front stairs into the main building.

Entering the hallway more eyes seemed to be drawn in my direction, as students parted to seemingly get a better view of me, turning to each other and whispering, whilst their eyes judged my appearance. However, before I could get too far down the hall a familiar voice sounded behind me.

"Blondie!" I turned around only to come practically face to face with Jace. "What a coincidence seeing you here!"

"Funny and it's Jamie." I replied sarcastically, then quickly adding, "Would you mind showing me around? I'm a bit lost."

"I know and yeah sure. I'll just let the guys know and I'll take you to the office first for your schedule." He announces, before turning and shouting back to the four boys I'd seen on the stairs with him earlier. "Let's go."

With that we set off in the direction of the office, making small talk along the way, whilst Jace gave me a rundown of the school and it's clubs.

****
After a confusing morning, consisting of Jace showing me around and getting lost in between classes it's officially lunch and I decided to go outside to see if there were any interesting clubs. The first thing to catch my eye was the cheerleaders, positioned in front of the bleachers next to the schools football field. In England cheerleading definitely isn't as popular as it is in America, but I had always had a love for it and liked to replicate routines I'd seen whilst at my old gymnastics club, that I'd quit when my parents were offered the opportunity to move. Standing off to the side I watched as the squad preformed a short cheer, before a pretty brown haired girl stepped forward and began talking to the girls sat in front of her.

"Now that's what we expect. So who would like to show us what they've got?" The girl yelled, hands instantly raising in reply. After a few girls had given a short performance, another girl with bleached hair and a short cheer skirt, marched up to the pretty brunette - who I had found out was called Jesse and was the teams captain - whispering loudly in her ear.

"These routines are boring me to death!" She whined, her voice high and nasally. "We need to spice it up." With an evil glint in her brown eyes, she looked over the girls in front of her, before fake yawning but just as her eyes scrunched slightly we made eye contact and a large smirk spread across her face, a clawed finger pointing at me. "You!"

"Me?"

"Yes you. Come here." My feet move on their own, shuffling across the grass. "I think you might the -" She looks me up and down, "potential to be on our team."

"Oh no, I couldn't!" Is my nearly instant reply, "I'm not even dressed for it."

"That's too bad, I guess your not good enough then. We don't need cowards on our team anyways." She states turning away from me.

"Excuse me? I am not a coward."

"Prove it."

After lacing up a pair of black Nikes that one of the girls sat waiting to audition had leant me, I tore my jumper leaving me in my leggings and a vest top, then I made my way over to the provided area for the routines.

"Whenever your ready then, the field is yours," Jesse stated, taking a seat on the bleachers with the smirking girl from before. Nodding to the two, I got myself into position, waiting for the music to start.

Fully aware of the glare being sent my way from the bleached blonde, I took a deep breath. I started off by swaying my hips to the beat of the song with quick shoulder movements, before I reached down to grab my lower leg bringing it up into the heel stretch pose holding it for a few seconds, allowing the songs tempo to increase.
Then once it hit a musical peak I released my leg, preforming a front aerial flip, followed by a cartwheel triple handspring combination and finally ending in the splits.

Glancing up, I noticed that the blonde was no longer as smug and just behind her stood off to the side of the field stood Jace smirking at me with his lips wrapped around a cigarette.
Still feeling the adrenaline running through my veins, I stood up sending a cheeky wink in his direction before making my way back towards the bleachers pulling my jumper back on and returning the trainers I had borrowed.

"So how did I do?" I ask, smiling at Jesse who grins back at me kindly as the other girl huff and storms back over to where she had originally been.  Not long after being offered a place on the team, the bell was ringing and I was rushing off to my next lesson of the day.
