Danny's POV

By the time I got home and phased up to my room it was well past midnight. Luckily it was the weekend so I could get away with sleeping in. I transformed into my human self and looked at my right hand. The ring was gone, but I wasn't concerned.

After I had left Phantom's Keep, Clockwork had caught up to me and informed me that the ring would only appear in my Ghost Prince form. Any other time, it would be absorbed into my core.

I could feel the power pulsing inside me, wanting to be used. 'What harm could one little patrol around the city do?' I thought as I transformed into my Phantom alter ego.

I opened my window and flew out into the cool night air. I always loved patrolling at night, the quiet city and starry skies were so nice. Except when I had to fight ghosts. It occurred to me that I should tell Sam and Tucker I was on patrol but after what happened today at Nasty Burger that probably wasn't a good idea.

I flew to Casper High, scoping out the grounds for any ghost activity. Nothing. I flew to Nasty Burger. Nothing. Not even anything at City Hall. I flew towards the park and landed underneath a tree, resting my back against the hard bark. I took a deep breath in, letting the cool air fill my lungs, and slowly let it out.

I needed more nights like this. Just me, no annoying parents or siblings, worrisome friends, or ghosts trying to kill me.

Apparently I had spoken to soon as a cold sensation rose in my chest and escaped through my mouth in a blue mist. I was able to barely dodge a missile that blew up the tree I had just been resting against.

I flew up high and looked around, trying to find the origin of the missile. Before I knew it, another missile was heading right for me. I shot an ectoblast at it, causing it to explode just before it hit me.

Even though the missile didn't hit me, someone's fist did. My attacker landed an uppercut which sent me spiraling backwards. Once I regained my balance, I was able to see my attacker.

"And here I was thinking you had forgotten about trying to kill little ol' me," I quipped.

"Not a chance welp. Just wanted to let you get used to your new life first," Skulker retorted.

New life? What's he talking about? "You're making even less sense than usual Skulker, what's up? Did Ember dump you again?" I joked.

Skulker replied by firing multiple missiles, daggers, and other pointy and dangerous projectiles at me. I was able to dodge most of the but a dagger just barely sliced my arm and a missile had changed its path so that it hit me in the back and exploded.

The pain of the missile was blinding but thankfully due to my ghostly healing the skin didn't start to blister. I clutched the spot where the dagger had cut me, trying to stop the green blood flow. I applied a little frost over the wound, hopeful that it wouldn't make the wound worse.

"What's the matter welp? Don't tell you've gotten soft after just a few days in the sweet life?" Skulker teased.

What the heck was he talking about? I shook it off and charged at the hunter, ramming into him. Once we separated I coated my hands with a thick layer of ice and landed quite a few punches on Skulker. Ice shards were sticking out of his metal face.

"That all you got ghost child?" he taunted.

I narrowed my eyes and two ice beams shot out of them, freezing Skulker on contact. He began to plummet but just before he hit the ground he broke free of his ice prison. I was starting to get annoyed.

"Hey Skulker! Hope you like the taste of dirt!"

I flew at full speed down to Skulker as he began firing nets at me. I swiftly dodged them and landed right on top of Skulker, pushing him into the ground so that just his head was visible.

"Maybe you haven't gotten soft welp. Good to know you haven't changed in this short amount of time," Skulker laughed.

I pulled out a Fenton Thermos and sucked Skulker in with little resistance. What was with those cryptic sentences? Riddles were not Skulker's style.

"My Prince!" a voice called out.

I turned to see Fright Knight fast approaching, his sword drawn. "What happened? Are you harmed?" he questioned the second his feet touched the ground.

"I'm fine Fright Knight. Just a little cut and possibly a minor burn. No biggie," I said.

"You should have not left your dwelling without informing me! I am here to protect you and ensure your safety. You could have been in grave danger and I would not have been here to assist you," Fright Knight scolded.

"Jeez Fright, you're starting to sound like my sister. Look it was just Skulker, I can handle him on my own just fine," I replied, attaching the now occupied Fenton Thermos to my belt.

My bodyguard sheathed his sword and crossed his arms, "I do not care if you are facing the Box Ghost alone. I need to be informed of your whereabouts if you are going somewhere when I am not around."

"And how am I supposed to do that? It's not like I can text you where I'm going," I said.

Fright Knight's eyes widened, "An excellent idea, my Prince!" he exclaimed.

Waving his hand in a circular motion, two cell phones appeared. One cellphone dropped into my hands and the other landed in Fright Knight's. It was a smooth black phone with a touch screen. I pressed the power button and the screen lit up with my DP symbol in white appearing on the screen.

"What's this for?" I asked.

"It is a normal human phone with some.... alterations. It will only work for you and you will still be able to do whatever you could do on your old phone," Fright Knight explained, "But now you will be able to contact me as well."

I dragged my finger across the screen and saw a text message icon. I tapped on it and it already had all my contacts, with the addition of one new one.

"FK, meaning Fright Knight I'm guessing," I said.

"Yes, now if I am not around because of business at your castle or I am needed by Plasmius, you can contact me," Fright Knight replied.

"Cool," I said, looking over the new phone. "Well I better get back home and take care of these injuries," I told Fright Knight, sticking the phone in a pouch on my belt.

I knew I couldn't go to Sam's since I would be bombarded with questions again so I was going to have to fix myself up. I leaped into the sky and started flying towards home. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Fright Knight flying beside me. I sighed but didn't say anything.

Unknown POV

The boy fought the hunter well. He didn't even tap into the ring's power which meant he was doing well keeping it controlled. That or he had absolutely no clue how to even use the ring. I already knew he was going to train with Clockwork about using it. Clockwork wouldn't teach him the true use of the ring, but I would. If only the hunter hadn't interfered I could have started the boys training tonight. No matter, he would be alone again soon enough. And when that moment came, the real training would begin.

A/N: Uggghh I know I suck at writing fight scenes but I'll try to do better. Anyways the next update might be a while since I'm busy this week and REALLY tired (sorry).
